It was also her first try on turf, so maybe she just didn't take to it the way he thought she might.

Forgot that this was the first try over the weeds- so that could have been a factor. And, yes, at least she did get a race in.

No one has ever said she is her sister. And if Zenyatta didn't exist, she would still be Balance's sister. So yeah, people would still be following her.

I'm pretty sure if she was just Balance's sister, people wouldn't post "oh gosh, she must have lost her shoe, or flipped her palate, or lost a cotton ball, or had a bad day, oh she has to get retired now....". Everything this horse does is psycho-analyzed.
She is at best an allowance horse, with some sort of mental or physical issues.

No one is "scrambling for excuses," as far as I see. I think we're, at least I am, just curious about whether E has mental or physical issues inhibiting her running.

i just feel like i see a lot of posts asking about "could this be why she lost?" as opposed to her just not being good. there doesnt need to be a reason for her losses.

i think she had a second place a few races back, where the winner had one of those "no one's gonna catch her anyway" days? so i'm hesitant to say she's sour. couldn't comment on her being sore, just that i don't think js would run her sore. but i'm not around her so i dont have any room to make any real comments.

In the race you're talking about, which was arguably the best performance of Eblouissante's career, Macha simply outkicked Eblouissante. Eblouissante actually had the lead at the head of the lane, but Macha came and got her. Understandable loss, though. Eblouissante had been off about 7 months and Macha is a decent allowance runner when she's right. I actually think this is one of those situations where everybody is pretty much right. No, people wouldn't care about Eblouissante, except she's Zenyatta's sister. No, Eblouissante isn't very good and will never be a stakes filly. Yes, she had extraordinary and unfounded hype early in her career. Is there harm in caring about her only because she's Zenyatta's sister, though? Of course not. You always kind of hope that lightning will strike twice. If I owned her, she'd be in a pasture tomorrow waiting for February. The risk/reward to running her doesn't seem to align, and this isn't going to be a filly that places in any significant race, especially given her current form.

I think you see a lot of stuff like that, not because anyone really thinks she's secretly a Grade 1 caliber mare, but because she's been talked about for so many years that if she runs, you're going to hear about it. I know more than I want to about her, and I wasn't even really a Zenyatta fan (I was mad at Zen from the start for beating Ginger Punch in the Apple Blossom ).

I usually scan the early races on a card for horses I've followed or have at least heard of, and Eblouissante certain falls into that category for most people by now--it's hard not to have heard of her. And because of that, we know maybe a little too much about her career (or lack of one), her training routine, and all the little details that most people really don't care about. So good or bad, there's going to be more speculation about her performances than for StormyAtlanticFilly0138 or FreudColt074.

I agree with most that she might have been an allowance horse at best had she been able to run more than 2 or 3 times per year. I don't really think we'll find out, though. Doesn't seem worth it to get an AOC win for an owner that paid over $2 mil for her.

People are interested in why she's running bad because she showed some decent talent in her first two starts. Ever since the Shuvee disaster she's hit a brick wall far before her distance capabilities and people are asking the obvious question - why? Maybe she has a mental or physical disability. Maybe she has no more interest in running. Or maybe she peaked already and is just a crap runner now. Who knows. The fun is dissecting it.

You don't have to read anything anyone posts. If it bugs you, move along....

I'd love to know the story behind how that filly got back to the States after being sold (in utero, I think?) to Turkey. Did someone go after her (waving an open wallet?) after Shared Belief won his Eclipse? Is the dam back as well?
