It might be where he was clipped.PONYRCR wrote:He looks a little rabicano on his flanks.
For those who know, is his mane likely to stay lighter or will it darken as he matures?

No guarantee, but it seems like the chestnut Tapits often do have lighter manes & tails.

He does not appear to be clipped and I would be stunned speechless if he had been. It is July and there is no need. His coat looks like good old-fashioned elbow grease and nature.islandgirl45 wrote:It might be where he was clipped.PONYRCR wrote:He looks a little rabicano on his flanks.

He sure got his mom's head. Loved Zen, but I would never describe her head as 'pretty.' Noble, handsome, kind...yes, but not exactly delicate in her bone structure.

There was alot of debate on Zenyatta.com about Ziconic's coloring and their web person posted "Ziconic does have white hairs in his coat, and they can be seen in many of the photos posted here on Zenyatta.com." He'll still be chestnut but as he gets older i'll be very curious as to how his coat changes.

I know me either. However, Z14 looks just like her but she does have a pretty head, it's weird. LOL

I thought it was rather funny that people were still suggesting that he will grey out.amfuller wrote:There was alot of debate on Zenyatta.com about Ziconic's coloring and their web person posted "Ziconic does have white hairs in his coat, and they can be seen in many of the photos posted here on Zenyatta.com." I'm sure those were the same folks demanding she get a year off from foaling.

he did have several grey hairs as a foal and i was praying he'd grey out. i was pretty bummed at the time he didn't and then decided i wanted to learn about colour, and asked about genetics since there's no chestnut until you get to gana facil. waterway, and forli, who are all 4 back. so actually, it's almost cooler that he's chestnut than if he were grey.Life At Zen wrote:I thought it was rather funny that people were still suggesting that he will grey out.amfuller wrote:There was alot of debate on Zenyatta.com about Ziconic's coloring and their web person posted "Ziconic does have white hairs in his coat, and they can be seen in many of the photos posted here on Zenyatta.com." Has Z-Princess been weaned?

You catch a brief glimpse of one of the mares on the video, so it would appear the youngsters are still with their dams. I think Princess is about four months old, so she's probably eating some solid food by now, even if she's also nursing a bit. Weaning...actual separation from her mom...usually occurs at about six months, I believe.

Bloodhorse posted a video preview of a coming story on Zenyatta and her filly - they seem so much in synch walking - and I didn't realize how close in resemblance their blazes were.
