That said I'm disappointed, I really liked Hansen and I was hoping he would stay over here.
Just one US crop, he was sold before the current breeding season.

Never made sense to me, not even given a chance to see what he would produce. I guess money really does talk in some cases. Thought his owner was sooooo in love with him. Hope he does well.

Maybe his namesake belatedly realized what an ass he made of himself leading up to the Kentucky Derby.

I also feel sad, seeing the head-on shot from Korea. Not how you present a valued stallion to potential breeders.

Because of how the halter is twisted, and the horse looks more like a doofus than alert and interested.

Such as, short-tempered groom? Or, finding himself bumped from a 5-star resort to an inn?

It's his own dumb fault. Had he run a little faster, he wouldn't be in this predicament.

That's not for a stud ad, it's his registration photo in the online studbook.

lol. Well horses often look like doofus' :D He looks content enough to me, but I don't know him.

Personally I think it's cute. Maybe not what you want professionally, but still. Someone needs to be re-taught how to put a halter on, but that's about it.

Someone needs to learn how to take care of a forelock properly.

That's an awfully large chain for a horse. Looks like something I might use to pull a stump out of the ground on the farm.

And the nicks and cuts on his face look to be new. Perhaps caused by somebody jerking on the overly large chain wrapped around his face.

People seem to forget these are not money making machines, but living creatures. An article on IHA mentioned it took him over a year to understand some basic commands in Japanese, so if this guy is not understanding Korean, he is probably being shanked like crazy when he does something they don't like, hence the marks. Maybe these foreign farms should have someone who speaks English to work with the imported stallions to help them with the transition.

But then my thoughts on sending our champs abroad are not PC so I will stop while I'm ahead.

I use chains just as long on horses all the time. Yes, they're living breathing creatures (really now?) but if you have a living, breathing 1200lb+ animal that's a little hard to handle the chain is there for a reason. It's not killing the horse. And I work with extremely well trained, bombproof horses - not thoroughbreds with their balls still attached.

This is potentially why I should stop posting on this forum.

Could care less how long the chain is, that chain is too darn heavy for a horse. Really, they need tow chain weight shanks for a stallion? If so then they are not much of a horseman. And that horse looks like he has been scuffed in the face, pretty badly.

I have worked with horses with balls still attached as well. Most were better behaved than some of the mares, some not very nice at all. But I never had to beat them or shank the shit out of them to get them to comply. If you get in a fight with a 1200 lb animal you will come out on the loosing end every time. I have also seen alot of abuse in my days, one of the reasons I no longer work in the industry.

This horse looks like crap in that picture. Google images of him. I don't see any marks on his face and his body language looks different.

Just wondering how long after his quarantine that pic was taken? Some horses really stress thru the process and it shows- something could have happened on the trip over as well.

And this picture seems to be from when he was still racing.
