Aside from the peerless Galileo, what other son of Sadler's Wells has done as well as El Prado? His legacy, through Medaglia D'Oro, Mr. Livingston (
whom we lost too soon), Kitten's Joy, Artie Schiller, Borrego, Spanish Moon, Paddy O'Prado, Fort Prado and O'Prado Again (
please feel free to jump in with anyone I missed), has been extraordinary. Not only a sire of sires, he is also a tremendous broodmare sire.
His descendents aren't just grass horses, either. MDO has done pretty well with his dirt runners...Rachel, anyone?
Thanks in great part to Ken Ramsey's efforts, Kitten's Joy may turn out to be the most successful of El Prado's sons. I'll be really interested in watching horses like Big Blue Kitten when they go to the shed, to see if KJ has the juice to also become a sire of sires.
