"Only thing left is a Hambletonian winner. Im sure that will happen soon."
That made me remember Walter Farley's The Black Stallion's Sulky Colt, where some visionary harness guy brings his Standardbred mare to be bred to The Black, to put some speed into the offspring. The resulting colt goes on to win the Hambletonian, IIRC.
Yeah, Farley had a tendency in his books to play a little fast and loose with certain registry rules for his subjects.

Yup. And I may or may not have written out his pedigree on the inside cover... *casual whistle*

Maybe thinking of Havre de Grace's Tapit foal?carole wrote:Well Zenyatta's is just a yearling whilst Rachel Alexandra never had a Tapit baby.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:How long before Zen's and Rachel's Tapit kids hit the track? The anticipation for those two is going to be off the charts.
They both had babies by Bernardini. Zenyatta's (Cozmic One, a colt) is 2 and Rachel's (an un-named filly) is a yearling.

Tapit is more than $4M ahead of the second place stallion (Kitten's Joy) on the BH general earnings list...with the Breeders' Cup yet to come. Simply amazing.

He could easily break the single season earnings record with a couple good performances at the BC or a win in the Classic. Currently held by Smart Strike in 2007 with $14,358,570.ThreeMustangs wrote:Tapit is more than $4M ahead of the second place stallion (Kitten's Joy) on the BH general earnings list...with the Breeders' Cup yet to come. 2007? I think Curlin put Smart Strike into that monetary stratosphere.

Yup! It was a combination of a few that year. That was the year Curlin, English Channel, and Fabulous Strike all won Grade 1 races on the same day, and one month later Curlin and English Channel won the BC Classic and Turf. What a fun year for racing.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:2007? I think Curlin put Smart Strike into that monetary stratosphere.

Isn't 2007 the year that Curlin won the Dubai World Cup? That one race bumped up Curlin's earnings by a bunch.

The super stallion Tapit(USA) was represented by a new star in Japan, when his 2yo colt Golden Barows(USA)[o/o Mother Russia(USA) by Mayakovsky(USA)] broke his maiden in open lengths smashing the 2yo track record for 1600m dirt at Tokyo 2R on Nov 22, ridden by Ryan Moore.
Amazing!

How neat that he is out of a Mayakovsky mare! Mayakovsky, besides being extremely handsome, was very, very fast. And Mother Russia was one of his best progeny.tachyon wrote:The super stallion Tapit(USA) was represented by a new star in Japan, when his 2yo colt Golden Barows(USA)[o/o Mother Russia(USA) by Mayakovsky(USA)] broke his maiden in open lengths smashing the 2yo track record for 1600m dirt at Tokyo 2R on Nov 22, ridden by Ryan Moore.

I have photos of Golden Barows at four sales in Kentucky and Florida, in utero, weanling, yearling, and 2yo breeze show. Can't figure out how to post them from on here (my computer isn't working right now) but you can see them on my Facebook page (Mary M. Meek.)
