I find that lean, "just off the track" look very attractive. It reminds me a great deal of the old fashioned portraits of horses of the long-gone past, before photography came into being.
Give me that short lead, give me that win by a nose, get them all home safely!

Those front legs are just...something else.Flanders wrote:That is painful to look at it. But its nice to see a photo I have never seen.Northport wrote:Not new and not really a conformation picture, but I didn't know where to put this picture of the Biscuit. Wow.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

Just goes to show you what kind of heart and determination he had. That leg is real scary. Not sure when in his career this was taken, but wowza.

Is it possible that the photo was taken when the Biscuit was just starting to shift his weight, making him look more over-at-the-knee than he really was?

Quite a contrast between Camelot's perfect proportions and the Biscuit's over-at-the-knee knobiness.
And yet...I doubt that Camelot is ever going to have a best-selling book written or popular movie made about him. For all his faults, The 'Biscuit is a racing Immortal.

Same thing happened to Blame is his first year there. I saw him right off the track and he was lean and a little homely, and saw him the following summer and he looked like one of the pregnant broodies.Northport wrote:He got really chunky in a hurry

I was surprised too how much Orb filled out. Claiborne should look into putting all their stallions on a diet, you'd think they changed after they lost Secretariat, he was always on the heavy side.
