Fuji Kiseki(JPN) is finally represented by his first Japanese CLASSIC winner from what is believed to be his final crop generation, as his 3yo colt Isla Bonita(JPN), o/o Isla Cozzene(USA) by Cozzene(USA), wins the G1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) 2000m turf at Nakayama on April 20 2014.
Isla Bonita's race record is now 6-5-1-0.

That was the long-awaited Classic race success for Fuji Kiseki.
As a racehorse, Fuji Kiseki himself had to retire from racing undefeated (4 wins for 4 starts) before the Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) due to tendon injury.

At stud, he has always been seen one of the most succesful and versatile successors of his sire Sunday Silence, if not the most, smashing the all-time record number of JRA wins for JPN-bred stallions.
He had sired eight individual G1 winners worldwide by the end of last year, including South African champion mare Sun Classique(AUS) . But his sons and daughters had just been unlucky in domestic Classic events.
It's almost miraculous that he has sired his first Classic winner in Japan this year, when his stud duty has been suspended since 2011.
Well done, Isla Bonita!!
Congratulations, Kiseki!!
Kiseki also means ''miracle'' in Japanese.

Of side note, Isla Bonita was ridden by Masayoshi Ebina today who had guided Fuji Kiseki to his debut win in 1994.

On Saturday at Santa Anita!!

Flamboyant(FR), 2011C. Peer Gynt(JPN) x Relicia Bere(FR) by Until Sundown(USA), won the La Puente Stakes in his U.S. debut impressively demonstrating his excellent turn of foot, on April 19th 2014.

I wonder how many fans realized that this French import was a grandson of great Sunday Silence. 8-)

Yes, she is a granddaughter of Sunday Silence(USA)!!

I would like to believe that Hana's Goal (JPN) made all Sunday Silence fans proud.
That was really a fabulous win.
And she definitely deserved it!! :D
This filly could have been the Oka Sho winner in 2012 if she had not been injured after her Tulip Sho win.
So it seems that she's finally returned to her true self here. :D
She made her sire Orewa Matteruze(JPN) the 25th son of Sunday Silnece to sire a G1 winner worldwide.
It was very sad that Orewa Metteruze, winner of the 2006 G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen, passed away last year at the age of 13.

Good news for Sunday Silence that continues.
This time from Brazil!!

Jaspion Silent(BRZ), 2010C. Silent Name(JPN) x Xiririca Da Serra(BRZ) by Know Heights(IRE), scored his first G1 victory in the Grande Premio Sa Paulo 2400m turf at Cidade Jardim on April 27th.
That was a long awaited G1 success for Jaspion Silent who had won a G3 and runnered-up a G1.
And the Canada-based Silent Name(JPN) became Sunday Silnece's 26th son to sire a G1 winner worldwide!

Fenomeno(JPN), 2009H. Stay Gold(JPN) x De Laroche(IRE) by Danehill(USA), won the G1 Tenno Sho Spring 3200m turf at Kyoto on May 4th, becoming the third horse in history to win this event for two consecutive years. This race was his second start off his leg injury. 14-7-2-0.
All of top 13 finishers were grandsons of Sunday Silence and it looks like Stay Gold is always a strong influence for the stamina.

It's rare to see wire-to-wire winners in 1600m G1s at Tokyo course with long final straight.
Mikki Isle's race record is now 6-5-1-0. His third dam is Stella Madrid(USA).

Karakontie has a beautiful pedigree -- the Storm Cat x Sunday Silence cross certainly seems to be a productive one. And of course I always have had a soft spot for the descendants of Miesque.

Prestige Vendome also ran very well in defeat. Orpen over Dr. Fong is an intriguing cross to me.

Divine Light(JPN), the sire of Cartier champion filly Natagora(FR), has died May 12 at stud in Turkey. :(

http://www.racingpost.com/news/horse-ra ... t7DaysNews

RIP Divine Light.
He was not seen a top-flight son of Sunday Silence while he was racing in Japan. He was not even a graded winner.
But his achievement at stud must be highly evaluated especially by Sunday Silence fans.
