CAUTION. This is a sad, horrific site but they wrote that 85 horses died in NY so far this year. Looking a little further into the site, there was more. Videos. I do not want to see them. The owner of the site is Patrick J Battuello. I have no idea if this is credible or not, but man, it is horrible.

I don't know on the videos, but the actual number that died either in training or racing most unfortunately is correct, per the NYRA database. Actually, it's even gone up a bit, and now stands at 89.

Battuello is a PETA supporter. Take it as you will. One fatality is too much, but there are thousands of horses that run or are stabled at NYRA tracks. The number also includes trotters which accounts for many more horses. Included in the database are horses that have passed away from colic and various accidents - not solely racing breakdowns. NY racing has among the highest safely record in the industry. That said, there is of course always room for improvement.

You could see the resemblance to his sire in his red coat and white star. So glad he got to spend a year being treated like the royal heir he truly was.

Verifiable must have been so happy to once again feel the sun on his back, and the wind, the lush grass underneath his hooves. Glad that the Exceller Fund was able to give him a wonderful last year.

And two more lost at Belmont today:

Doyouseeme who fractured a leg while breezing, and
Roih (Roith?) Jones who was lost to a severe hoof infection (name was spelled both ways in listing).

May they both RIP.

PETA...pffft.... that's why so horrible. Makes sense. Creeps. Probably staged and overstated. Thanks for the info.

I don't know if these were mentioned before, I don't recall seeing them before the board got hacked:
Flitch (Demons Begone - Whiffling) MGSW/half-brother to Prairie Bayou - euthanized June 2013 in India
Puerto Madero (Gallantsky - Paty Game) MG1SW - died August 2013 in India
Sharp Attack (Storm Cat - Foppy Dancer) full brother to G2SW Magic Storm - died June 2013 in India

If he has footage of the actual breakdowns and compressed them into a short video, one after the other, he won't need to stage anything or overstate anything.

I don't plan to look at it to find out.

This was on his waste to plate page (or something like that). Not breakdowns, but slaughtering, but the front images look like some backyard scenario showing a broken down tin shed and a small pipe corral with what looks like an already dead horse in it (stiff legged). But again, those are just the front images. I didn't know if the site and information was credible or sensational and why I asked.

So heartbroken. McCann's Mohave euthanized yesterday from complications after a bout of colic :(

Are you sure? If that's true, all the racing news sites are slow to respond.

Sad news from the Motion barn:

GrahamMotion ‏@GrahamMotion 43s
Hoofit lost his life today due to a leg infection. He survived an earthquake, hurricane & shipping across the world but this was too much.

RIP, Hoofit.
