Wow, quite an early start for a 2yo!

Sea The Stars is doing fantastic so far! I think a Classic winner, whichever part of the world, is on the cards this year! That will hopefully attract back those top TOP mares who have all recently been going to his bro Galileo  Speaking of which, I read somewhere that STS is doing better at stud than his brother did at this point in time!

Stars Over The Sea (o/o Exciting Times (Jeune Homme-FRA)) ran a very close (hd+3/4 lengths) 3rd in the Epsom Derby Trial. His second try in stakes company and he did pretty ok. Does not hold entry in Epsom Derby.
'Took keen hold, tracked winner, brought wide in straight, ridden over 2f out, still disputing 2nd from over 1f out, kept on but always held'

Afternoon Sunlight (o/o Lady Luck (Kris)) won impressively at Limerick today scoring by 5 lengths in a 1 mile event. In her second start, she was beaten by My Titania as a 2 year old. Was a heavy favourite for this race! She holds an entry in the Irish 1000 Guineas (May 25th)
'Broke well and led, headed before halfway, travelled well to lead again over 2f out, quickened clear entering final furlong, comfortably'

Vazira (o/o Vadaza (Zafonic)) won the Prix Vanteaux (Group 3) today and so becomes STS's 2nd graded stakes winner and first this year!
From Racing Post
France: Vazira maintains unbeaten record
Favourite Vazira does just enough to make it two wins from two starts as she lands the Group 3 Prix Vanteaux at Longchamp. 32 mins ago

Sad news, My Titania will miss 1,000 Guineas due to a 'setback', didn't scope 100% clear. :(

Mutakayyef (o/o Infallible (Pivotal)) was a very narrow 2nd (a neck) at Newmarket today in the listed 'Makfi Stakes'. The distance was 1m 2f and the Al Maktoum owned colt is entered in the English and Irish Derbies as well as at Royal Ascot and in the Dante Stakes (traditional Derby prep).

YAY!! Taghrooda remains undefeated by impressively winning the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes as the evens favourite at Newmarket!! The distance was 1m 2f and is a prep for the Oaks for which she holds an entry! She won by a cool 6 lengths!

As mentioned yesterday, Mutakayyef was 2nd yesterday in the colts equivalent.

'Taghrooda's easy victory in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket has led to bookmakers slashing her for the Investec Oaks, now the general 3-1 favourite (from 7). 9 mins ago'

Woop Woop!!!
Anipa is now 3 for 3 this year after winning the listed Chester Oaks and nicely stepping up in class :D She is not entered in the Epsom Oaks and would have to be supplemented but she becomes a 3rd individual stakes winner for STS this season and the season has only just begun! Overall STS has 4 stakes winner, all fillies mind you ;)
'Chased leaders, went 2nd 4f out, ridden to lead inside final furlong, kept on well towards finish'
Distance: 1m 3F

Anipa
Vazira
My Titania (at 2)
Taghrooda
ANIPA may not have brought the hottest of form lines but kept her winning streak on the roll to offer connections a Classic option with a win in Chester's version of the Oaks.

The daughter of Sea The Stars won a 0-75 handicap on her most recent start and was ignored at 16-1 as the market was dominated by Ballydoyle runner Terrific, the 15-8 favourite whose yearling price tag was 1,300,000 guineas.

Yet Terrific never really promised to live up to her name as pacesetter Secret Pursuit held on for second, beaten half a length, with Bright Approach third at 5-2.

Anipa is not entered in the Investec Oaks and a run would cost her owner-breeder Nurlan Bizakov £30,000 for a supplementary entry. Winning trainer Roger Varian was non-committal immediately afterwards as Paddy Power introduced Anipa into the Oaks betting at 33-1.

"She's a tough little filly and clearly improving," said Varian.

"On ratings she had to step up on what she did previously. I thought her price reflected her chance and we wanted to finish in the first three, so we're delighted.

"At this stage I wouldn't want to commit [to the Oaks]. She does keep improving and surprising us and she handles these quirky tracks well."

Also at Chester, Prince of Stars (o/o Queen's Logic (Grand Lodge)) broke his maiden 2nd out. He is trained by John Gosden but has no further entries.
'Midfield, headway over 3f out, looked green, led over 1f out, ran on inside final furlong, always in control towards finish '
Distance: 1m 2 1/2F

Seagull Star was 4th whilst Stars Over The Sea was 5th in the Chester Vase today at Chester. Seagull Star had a grim trip, locked on the inside for the most part and had no room with 2f to go, and Stars Over The Sea burnt himself out on the front end early on.

Afternoon Sunlight does it again as she wins the 1,000 Irish Guineas trial at Leapodstown today  Led throughout and held on by 1/2 a length in the end.

In the same race, Stars So Bright for STS's connections was last after a horrible run in the stretch, coming off the turn she looked like she had plenty in the tank but was blocked on the inside and just couldn't get out.

Also, Zarshana (half to Zarkava) ran 2nd in the Prix de la Seine where Super Electra was last (or second last) at Longchamp today

Still to come are Sea The Moon on his seasonal debut and prep for the German Derby at Frankfurt (3:55) and Starchitect at Leapordstown in a maiden.
