Street Sense. I didn't really have much doubt that it would also be a 1-year thing with Hard Spun, as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see them send Discreet Cat or someone else over there for a season next year.

His last work was over at Palm Meadows in Feb- good luck to him!

I know he had not raced since last summer - was he injured? Sorry to see him go, as he had a decent career underway. Hope he does well
at stud though...

He last raced July, 2013. He worked once this year, a bullet 58.55 on Feb.17/14 at Palm Meadows. Which is sort of bizarre because he didn't have any other works leading up to that.

Could be he got away from the rider. Happened once with a horse I followed: several months off -- goes out at SAR for a basic work, takes off on the rider and does :58+ --- and is off several more months.

Yeah, that sounds probable.
Sheikh Mo may replace Hard Spun with Discreet Cat.

But I personally hope that Sheikh Mo sends Elusive Quality to Darley Japan for one year.
I wonder if EQ will sire some top turfers who can even beat Shadai stars.
He already sired a few black-type winners out of Sunday Silence mares.
This can be an interesting series of experiments.

I really don't know what happened. I posed that question on the Honor Code FB page, and was told that he was at the farm- then got a workout notification and was getting excited

As successful as Pulpit stallions have been here, I hope they bring Pyro over to stand here, too. I don't know how his Japanese foals are doing, but I think he deserves a shot at covering American bred dirt mares.

The Facebook page of the University of Arizona Equine Sciences Program said this:

• Thank you everyone for your support. He was such a loved horse as evident by all his friends here today. Louie Dula, it was his previous injury to the right front which caused him to have problems in his left front and the pain in both just finally became to much for him.

Apparently, he also must have had a bone infection at some point, from what they wrote back in February:

• The left front is okay. He is missing part of the coffin bone so it is still uncomfortable for him at times but he is so smart and takes such good care of himself. I really thought we would lose him with that bone infection but he is the bounce back kid! The right front is changing a great deal and he is adapting quiet well to it. The heel is a little painful since he walks on it but it is toughening and we have deep sand in his pen and shavings in his stall for support. Chelokee is an amazing horse. I know I say this every post but he really is.

The picture of him standing . . . with that right front foot . . . It's pretty shocking. Even with excellent care, I'm amazed he lived as long as he did.
