Thank you Ziggypop for posting this. These folks are just down the road from me, and work so incredibly hard to help these lostZiggypop wrote:http://offtrackthoroughbreds.com/2014/0 ... eeds-help/

and often suffering souls. It just breaks your heart when such good people have such a tough go of it. Rescues are struggling all
over, and these people are at wits end and on their last thread. That bureacratic red tape will cause another rescue to go down is
sad. I'm hoping that something good in the wind will blow their way soon - before it's too late.

Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue picked up a 4yo filly (gray) and a 4yo gelding (chestnut) at New Holland today. Don't have info yet, but these are good-looking youngsters.

Remember Me Rescue pulled these two fillies from low-end auction last night. Twig, on the left, is a 3yo who made only 3 starts, the last on April 10 @ Evangeline. A.P. Notebook, on the right, is a 4yo who made 26 starts, the last on 3/13 @ Delta Downs. She has a bad cut and infection on a hock.

Thank god they were pulled and by one of the best rescues out there. Unfortunately, a lot of Delta Downs horses find themselves on the feed lots.second_glance wrote:Remember Me Rescue pulled these two fillies from low-end auction last night. URGENT! Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue is working to intercept an extensively raced, 7yo TB gelding who is at high risk of shipping direct to slaughter -- that is, he will not go through auction. Caroline et al. are looking for pledges of financial support in this endeavor. So if you have a few bucks, hang on to them for a bit. I'll let you know as soon as they get him, IF they get him. Or you can go to SCTR's FB page and advise that you will be able to help: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Southern ... 12?fref=nf

AHR pulled an older TB gelding from the small-time Tulare auction on Tuesday. Turns out he's Easy Song, 20yo son of Easy Goer, who earned more than $230,000 in his short career. Last known job was as a camp horse.

4yo filly Silver and Smoke and 5yo gelding Bringcheckcharlie were rescued from horrific conditions in Miami-Dade by the police and South Florida SPCA. A 3rd un-tattooed TB was also seized. They'd been locked in shanty-type stalls with ceilings so low they couldn't fully raise their heads; the stalls hadn't been cleaned in months, and they are seriously malnourished.
Police are looking for the owners so that the horses can be legally surrendered to the SPCA; and they can be charged.

Just saw AHR post that Mikes Auction is not allowing photographs to be taken of the horses. Looks like some of the radicals finally pushed too hard. Jingles for the horses that this ultimately hurts.
