Congrats, SB...and I'm so glad that the mare and fillies are OK. Twins can be trouble for both mom and foals in horses.
I seem to remember seeing pix of a TB mare with twins, but both were rather small, and I don't think either made it to the track. It may work out better with SBs, since pulling a sulky and driver is a bit easier for a horse, and being smaller doesn't prevent a trotter or pacer from being competitive.

Yes it can be trouble both for the mare and the fillies so were keeping them at the clinic for a another week in case anything goes wrong. One of the fillies is bigger than the other, and the other filly is really small. Hopefully they will both make it to the track in the future!BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Congrats, SB...and I'm so glad that the mare and fillies are OK. Twins can be trouble for both mom and foals in horses.

Stop on Red (1959) and Go on Green (1959) were twins.serenassong wrote:Do we know of any twins making it to the track- either one or both?
Stop on Red started 51 times with a record of 7-5-9; Go on Green started 32 times, with a record of 7-3-9.
Stop on Red was Spectacular Bid's granddam.
It's very rare for both twins to make it to the track.

Wow! Looking forward to pics! I don't know much about SBs and how paying the stud fee works, but if it's payable like so many TB fees (stands and nurses), and twins are born, would a breeder be on the hook for two stud fees? Anyone know how that situation would work? Glad these 3 are doing well!

Hmm good question! I'll go ask tomorrow about that and post whatever answer I receive.

I would be interested in that as well. I would think that the fee is for a cover- so if 2 foals results from said cover- will still be only the one fee? Then again, I believe they allow AI- which is a whole different story.

Wow, that is impressive- fun little fact- to be the granddam of one of the greatest horses to ever hit the track. And to think, if it had been discovered early enough and possibly pinched off- which is the norm- just ment to be I guess.aethervox wrote:Stop on Red (1959) and Go on Green (1959) were twins.serenassong wrote:Do we know of any twins making it to the track- either one or both?

So I talked to the breeding manager and he actually didn't know. He said it most likely depends on the farm that stands the sire.

Sweet video of one-day-old foal (Poet's Voice - Electric Feel) out of the stall for the first time. They are in a dry, enclosed area: mom is looking for grass, foal very much into being her shadow.

I don't know about everyone else but I am loving all the chrome that is showing up on this years foals! These will be fun to watch when they get to the track!!
There are other things that I could do, but there's really nothing that I love as much as horse racing. Chantal Sutherland

That's adorable! She's trying to get away from the little ankle biter who is determined not to let that happen.second_glance wrote:Sweet video of one-day-old foal (Poet's Voice - Electric Feel) out of the stall for the first time. You should be able to spot that one easily on the track with all that white on the face.second_glance wrote:Kitten's Joy -- LaCoruna filly.
Does the farm take the pics from an covered turn out area, or do they just not use straw in their stalls? Seems like all the other pictures I see have straw in them.
