Is it me or is Lane’s End far less patient than they used to be?

That has nothing to do with Lane's End, he was owned by the TJK still(Turkish Jockey Club). When US breeders stopped breeding to him, why would they leave him here? They'll take him back to Turkey where breeders actually want to use him.

I've been seeing posts of people wondering if the TJK will send him back to the US once he's pensioned. My guess is probably not, he will probably live out his days in turkey

Seems like he's already in Turkey per the TJK

Yeah he left awhile ago, I was surprised that Lane's End even announced a fee for him for next year because he was already gone at that point. I would also say no he doesn't come back. They've always kept their stallions and treat them wonderfully. I know there was a point when Old Friends was trying to get back some of the TJK stallions but they refused. They love them, look at the cute birthday parties they have for Victory Gallop. I doubt he is their only stallion they treat this way.

Karacabey Stud is among the largest stud farms in Europe, with nearly 5000 acres. Twice the size of Lane's End! Izmit Stud (where Daredevil lives now) has 715 grassy acres. They've got plenty of room in the "back 40" for pensionersFlanders wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 8:37 pm Yeah he left awhile ago, I was surprised that Lane's End even announced a fee for him for next year because he was already gone at that point. Speaking of, the Turkish Jockey Club announced fees and book limits for the TJK-owned stallions today. Victory Gallop has an * indicating that veterinarians will determine his availability for breeding.
They've priced Daredevil relatively high (250k lira is about $7200; the club sets lower fees for their stallions to encourage mare owners to use them over foreign stallions) so are anticipating high demand.

Actually, Pearl Secret(GB) will stand at Arrow Stud for a fee of JPY500,000 (about US$3,300) next year.Honor Code wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 11:35 pm Rare Byerley Turk-Line Stallion Sold to Japan

Dr. Yuki Shimomura, owner of Ookaribe Farm, talked about his passion to keep the Byerley Turk-line alive in the youtube link below (in Japanese).
https://www.youtube.com/live/vHuSHzLufo8
Of a side note, Yuki Shimomura studied as a vet at Park Equine Hospital in Kentucky ten years ago before moving back to Japan.
Pearl Secret(GB) covered only 11 mares in Britain in 2023. (I haven't had his 2024 number yet.)
I personally hope that the son of Compton Place(GB) will find more mares in Japan and Yuki Shimomura's dream will come true.

I read the Bloodhorse article with interest. Just wondering about the Herod line has intrigued me over the years. When I saw the name Ahonoora, I knew I had seen it somewhere before but not in reference to any of the names mentioned in the article. I remembered on my own without research......shockingly!tachyon wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:53 amActually, Pearl Secret(GB) will stand at Arrow Stud for a fee of JPY500,000 (about US$3,300) next year.Honor Code wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 11:35 pm Rare Byerley Turk-Line Stallion Sold to Japan

He has a really nice Phipps pedigree (tail female to La Troienne, no less) and was a tough racehorse. I hope he does well.Mylute wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 4:22 pm G3W Five Star General (Distorted Humor × Party of Interest, by Bernardini) will stand at Owl Hollow Farm in Virginia for $6,000.

No stud deals yet for Rich Strike or Senor Buscador. In the case of Richie I am not shocked in the least. Dawson's wants for him are to high. Dawson wants a farm in KY or NY. Unless it's a smaller farm in KY I doubt anyone in KY will stand him. Most of the bigger farms dont seem to take on 5 year olds (that i have seen). Richie had a deal in NY but the farm backed out.

I’m so glad to see someone taking a chance on him at stud, he has been a solid horse for so long.Miss Woodford wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 7:11 pmHe has a really nice Phipps pedigree (tail female to La Troienne, no less) and was a tough racehorse.
