$700,000 Curlin
JJ Hernandez strings along
Ran second while favored over stablemate Citizen Bull who is a paltry 16-1 on this list.
Trainer knows how to get them to Kentucky.
Nice 6F work a couple of days ago.
Not a bad choice at all, good luck.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

I don't know for sure because I'm far too lazy to do the necessary checking, but I think that if an Into Mischief wins the Derby, he would be the first stallion to sire more than two winners. Of course, one of his two existing winners was by DQ, but it's still a valid and official win.
150 or so runnings is a lot of Derbys, so maybe somebody knows of another one somewhere along the line that I'm either unaware of I have forgotten, so if anybody does know about another stallion with more than two, please set me straight.

Not gonna go double check, but I think Bull Lea had three winners.

You're right: Citation, Iron Leige and Hill Gail.MissNMecke wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:11 pm Not gonna go double check, but I think Bull Lea had three winners.

Well, I guess I've been put in my place! Sorry I was so wrong! Just goes to show that you shouldn't post stuff like that unless you're willing to put in the time to check your facts. Thanks everybody for setting me straight! I'll try to be more diligent and careful next time!

Since I just don't feel like I've paid attention to horse racing much lately and have no clue who most of those 2yos are. I'll go with some mythical bets on Sires. I'll take Curlin and Gun Runner.

:Look at it this way: Into Mischief is the only one of the bunch that might get FOUR.Missbeholder wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 10:26 pm Well, I guess I've been put in my place! Sorry I was so wrong! Speaking of four....how many times has any other sire had four entrants in a single Kentucky Derby? Because Scat Daddy had Justify, Combatant, Flameaway and Mendelssohn in the 2018 Run For the Roses.
Scat Daddy died too young, and he still may be a highly-influential sire. What could have been for us if he'd had a long, healthy life?

There's a plain inconsistency between the Derby runner and sire odds, with Gaming at 21-1 but Game Winner at 33-1. Are people just not paying attention? (I wasn't, sadly, or I would definitely have put something down.)

These pools are fairly small but the “fields” are enormous, which can make them swingy. There’s also a not-insignificant number of bettors who pay zero attention to breeding and pedigree.mechaferret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 3:13 am There's a plain inconsistency between the Derby runner and sire odds, with Gaming at 21-1 but Game Winner at 33-1.
