Raise The Flag (Sadlers Wells-Hansili) has been humanely euthanised at the age of 20.
He raced once and retired injured and due to his pedigree he stood at stud at White Robe Lodge in New Zealand..
"A half-brother to a remarkable five Group One winners including Banks Hill, Intercontinental, Cacique, Heat Haze and Champs Elysees, Raise The Flag was also a half-brother to the Group Two winner Dansili, who went on to become a champion sire."
"From 53 runners in Australia, Raise The Flag sired 36 winners and 7 stakes horses, headed by Gr.1 Sydney Cup (3200m) winner Etah James while smart stayer Ablaze topped A$800,000 in prizemoney with feature wins including the Jericho Cup (4600m) and the Grand Annual Steeplechase (5500m) at Warrnambool. Had no idea he was struggling with cancer, but sounds as if he pushed back bravely as long as he could. Very sorry to hear this, class act.Izvestia wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 4:48 pm Ben Cecil is gone. Condolences to his family.

I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Uncorrelated (Arrogate × Harlan's Romance, by Harlan's Holiday) suffered a "cardiac event" and collapsed before the finish line in Race 9 at Aqueduct (11/29/24).
He'd won his debut race in January 2023.

I know this is for horses, but I wanted to honor one of my favorite music artists of all time: Roy Orbison who died on this date 36 years ago.

Oh, I’m so sad. When I was a girl, I read a book called A Very Young Rider, about Vivi Malloy and her show jumping aspirations with her pony, Ready Penny. Vivi comes from a well known show jumping family, and her mom is well-respected in NY breedingHB1994 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 6:31 pm Legendary horseman Rodney Jenkins has passed away.

Anyway; I was obsessed with this book as a kid, and Rodney was in it a lot because Viv’s older sister, Debbie, was a prominent show jumper. I really loved him - he seemed like such a good man, even to a kid.
RIP Rodney

not a racehorse (not even a thoroughbred) but i wanted to make an honorable mention to my trainer's horse Hiroshi who had to be put down this morning. he colicked badly 2 weeks ago and they tried everything to get him to recover from surgery but he ultimately stopped eating and he went down in his stall this morning and they couldn't get him back up. he came from a really bad place and was now just learning how to trust my trainer after a year together so she's absolutely heartbroken over losing the horse that was finally becoming her partner. he tried so hard to be a good boy.
i like plushies. a lot.

I feel like I such a fool because I actually never put two and two together that the Maryland racehorse trainer Rodney Jenkins was the world-class showjumping Rodney Jenkins. He lived an incredible life.HB1994 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 6:31 pm Legendary horseman Rodney Jenkins has passed away.
