Disappointed about this, but he’s going out on top.
I am too, but the DRF story disclosed he had reinjured the tendon in his right foreleg.
Ahhh, ok. Makes sense!

Does anyone know why Tilsit is no longer breeding? Saw that he was listed as retired from breeding on a fan site. He has 42 yearlings listed on the Turkish website

translated:

Tilsit (First Defence – Multilingual, Dansili), who was purchased from Juddmonte Stud Farm by the Turkish Jockey Club in 2021 but was withdrawn from breeding in June 2022 after completing a certain number of breedings and has been receiving treatment since then, was included in the breedings again at Karacabey Pansiyon Stud Farm.

Breeders who have applied for other stallions will be able to request changes for the stallion, which is planned to have 40 breedings this year with a breeding fee of 75,000 TL, without any penalty.

So I would assume it was fertility, that he was taken out of service in late 2022 and then didn't cover in 2023 but he did cover in 2024. Just a limited amount.

I've been wondering where he was for a while but it looks like Pluck has been standing in the Philippines since 2021. This might be old news lol

I'm hearing daredevil went back to turkey. But there's not any news articles about him relocating and he's still on lanes end site so it must've been recent

Seems like it. Sad, really. He is one of my all time favorite horses.

Doesn't surprise me, he wasn't given much of a chance when he came back. There was no chance they were going to leave him here when he only covered 22 mares this year. No point keeping him in the US if they aren't making money off him, may as well take him and use him in Turkey where he will get a chance. This insures will get a good horse next year when his return crop turns 3.

Khozan is now at Ocala Stud. Chance It moved to Virginia, I think that leaves St Patrick's Day. What's up with Journeyman? Did I miss something?

the article regarding Khozan's move makes it sound like they're closing their stallion business.

Leading Florida Sire Khozan Relocates to Ocala Stud
https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... ocala-stud
"Standing stallions is a seven-day-a-week job," said Brent Fernung, who owns Journeyman Stud with his wife, Crystal. "Crystal and I decided towards the end of last breeding season that it was time for us to redirect our energy elsewhere. When we discussed where to move Khozan to, Ocala Stud was the only choice. The O'Farrells do a great job, and we know we are leaving Khozan in the best of hands."

I never understood why they sent him to Ireland for his 3yo year. When he showed he really didn't like running on the turf, they didn't stop, they just kept trying. Sure there is no way to know if he would have been a GSW if he stayed in the US on the dirt. But it was a lot more likely than on a surface he didn't like.

What sort of mares do they use for fertility test breeding that occur before the breeding season?

Do they just abort the foal or do most TB stallions have a couple crossbreed offspring running around somewhere?

I think I'd just make a Southern Hemisphere time TB foal.

A lot of times they use a mare that has had her ovaries removed. They use hormone injections to put her in heat.

Its not for fertility testing, its for teaching them what their new jobs are.
