Dortmund stood in the US for a while before moving to SK.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 4:21 pm Longshot Brunacini (Dortmund x Our Conquistadora) won the G3 Perryville at Keeneland over a bit unlucky Book'em Danno.
A Dortmund colt? Is this a colt who was bred in Korea, but then brought back to the US? Kind of really cool to see an offspring of the late, towering chestnut win a stakes at Keeneland.

Hmmm. Dortmund was reported as exported Jan. 7, 2021, so I suppose he could have sired foals who would now be 3yos during his 2020 season here.
I guess it has felt like more than 3 years since Dortmund was exported.

IMO I think this news is surprising since I honestly thought he would retire after the Classic, guess I was wrong, I'm looking forward to seeing how he runs in 2025.CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 12:44 pm Fierceness is racing as a 4 year old, it was just announced on the BC show

I guess Repole wrote this yesterday:

Alert:
Even though this is breaking news, Fierceness’s stallion rights were negotiated after the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile to
@coolmoreamerica.
I am staying in with a significant share in Fierceness’s breeding rights. The plan is to win the Breeders’ Cup and beat Coolmore’s City of Troy
This negotiated deal also includes a provision for Fierceness to run back as a 4YO. Coolmore will receive 50% of Fierceness’s racing rights for his 4YO campaign.
When negotiating the deal a year ago, I was very clear with Coolmore that I wanted this horse, if healthy and sound, to run as a 4YO.
Coolmore is also of the understanding that I am clearly for, and aggressively pushing, an industry-wide mare cap of 200 mares per stallion.
Not to get too far ahead of myself, but I would love for Fierceness to start his 4YO campaign in @thesaudicup
.
Let’s go f$&king win the
@BreedersCup
!!!!!

I was just talking about this in the Breeding forum, but I do think Repole knows that if Fierceness wins the Classic, a big 4yo season could put him in the Hall of Fame. All the other major American 3yo colts are retiring or retired, and he could have his run of the division if he keeps up his form. And I think having a homebred with his silks hanging in the hall might be worth more than some extra millions.
I'm not getting my hopes up- Tiz the Law broke my heart in that regard- but I don't think it's completely impossible. Have to wait and see what happens in the Classic either way.

So you're saying that running the table when all his compatriots are retired puts him in the HOF? I realize he didn't win the Classic, but that seems a little cynical and dissing the HOF voters.Tessablue wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 3:00 pm I was just talking about this in the Breeding forum, but I do think Repole knows that if Fierceness wins the Classic, a big 4yo season could put him in the Hall of Fame. That horse is already in the Hall of Fame and is named Gun Runner.
But yes, a hypothetical horse who wins the Juvenile and the Classic 2x would 100% make it into the Hall of Fame.

We may actually have a decent older horse division next year?! That is exciting! So glad that Sierra Leone will be back!
