Believing (IRE) is on the track today, and at the gate, but it took quite a bit of maneuvering to get her there
Also, I swear my brain is broken because I thought Highland Falls was bay like his mom but nope, he is indeed a chestnut

Full Count Felicia in run off mode for the second day in a row, just flying into and around the clubhouse turn before finally coming to hand near the half-mile pole.

Ushba Tesoro really feeling good this a.m., dropped down to the rail for an impromptu blowout after making official work tab yesterday. Went a quarter in :25 and change wire out before rider was able to slow him down nearing five-eighths pole.

If he is in his game and if a hot pace develops, Ushba is going to be the first Japanese to win the BC Classic!! (I hope, haha!)

How do you feel about Derma? He has been full of energy this week. He did NOT want to stop today, it seemed like his rider was doing everything to get him to slow down and he was like NO LET ME RUN!tachyon wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 11:13 amThat's good to hear!CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 10:08 am @DRFWelsch

I guess Believing hasn't galloped since March (according to the morning BC show) so her being quirky is normal

Aiden O'Brien's troops(10 strong) really stretching it out today with Luxembourg and City of Troy leading the way "open galloping" a mile in very impressive 1:54.90.

Correction to earlier tweet regarding the O'Brien horses training this morning, it was Content(FM Turf) and the 2yo Lake Victoria(Juv Fillies Turf) who struggled to keep pace at the rear of the pack.

How does it benefit the owner, or trainer for that matter, to make public every issue a horse might have?Squeaky wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 8:41 amAgreesweettalk wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:02 pm https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... -scratches
i get it, but I WANT more transparency. we have enough hush-hush in this sport =\ wish the owners were more open if the vets can't/won't be.

I agree. What does knowing what has caused a scratch benefit the public? It’s not like you are betting them now.Curtis wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 1:21 pmHow does it benefit the owner, or trainer for that matter, to make public every issue a horse might have?Squeaky wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 8:41 amAgreesweettalk wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:02 pm https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... -scratches

Horses are privately owned, it doesn’t make sense that ALL information should be shared.

jeez, is this a troll question?
Ask the fans who wager in Japan and Hong Kong. Hand over fist.
Sounds like you believe horse racing should be for the benefit of trainers and owners. (and breeders, which is where we're going in U.S. it seems). Maybe more empty race tracks will convince.
"Horses are privately owned, it doesn’t make sense that ALL information should be shared." I guess you can also ask
X Y Jet, et. al. That's what perps used to tell me when I was in dog rescue, that they can do what they wish with animals the "own", when I got to meet them in court ...........and burn them to the ground in front of the prosecuting attorney for animal abuse.
I guess you think maybe we should have "kept our noses out of trainer/owner business" when they went after Servis, Navarro, etc. too.
The rest of the greater racing world, in the jurisdictions where there is trust , all believe in MORE TRANSPARENCY, not less.

This seems like a strange response from a handicapper. Many of us follow horses who race on different continents. If they are scratched for BC race, we want know why.
I follow the ones who have had throat surgery, for instance. Sometimes huge odds next out.
because other punters don't even know the horse had vet problems.
Not everyone is in the game for short term goal of "who will I bet on tomorrow at Delmar".

I don’t think ALL information needs to be provided. It’s odd to expect it be shared. Like I said, these are privately owned animals. If someone had a fever or wacked themselves in the stall - what does that have to with the public?MySaladDays wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 4:12 pmThis seems like a strange response from a handicapper. I am curious and care about the horses I follow. I also have a veterinary background so am really interested in injuries and illnesses from a medical POV. I know there are owners on this forum that feel the value should be protected and the public does not need to know anything. That is a very ingrained old school way of thinking. that reflects the pervasive secrecy in racing. I respect that opinion which the same people make over and over here. But what I loved about Rick Porter is he was so transparent and shared X rays, test results etc so everyone could learn and so fans did not worry. But we can agree to disagree. I have less interest in this year’s BC than in past years.

The betting public? Nothing to do with them?
You must not play other jurisdictions around the world where transparency is the name of the game, and why they have huge racing interest and crowds.
You must not buy any stocks on Wall Street, either. I don't think anyone would suggest an "investment" in a company that hid information. Its still a form of gambling, except we expect to have good information.

One of the cleanest trainers in the biz with an impeccable record for not having medication violations, Clement said it better than I can:
“At some stage, all of us have to stand up and make this game better than it is. In today’s world, there is no excuse not to have a transparent sport. We also have to be liable for our mistakes. I think all of us, not just the trainers, have to do whatever we can at every level to make racing cleaner and more fan-friendly than it is.”

If owners want to share the info, they should, but I could also seeing it being a very slippery slope. After being involved with many MRH horses, I could see PETA and witch hunters having a field day with how easy Thoroughbreds injure themselves. You just look at them wrong and they require 60 days off it seems.
