How do you feel about Derma? He has been full of energy this week. He did NOT want to stop today, it seemed like his rider was doing everything to get him to slow down and he was like NO LET ME RUN!

Aiden O'Brien's troops(10 strong) really stretching it out today with Luxembourg and City of Troy leading the way "open galloping" a mile in very impressive 1:54.90.

Correction to earlier tweet regarding the O'Brien horses training this morning, it was Content(FM Turf) and the 2yo Lake Victoria(Juv Fillies Turf) who struggled to keep pace at the rear of the pack.

I agree. What does knowing what has caused a scratch benefit the public? It’s not like you are betting them now.
Horses are privately owned, it doesn’t make sense that ALL information should be shared.

Sounds like you believe horse racing should be for the benefit of trainers and owners. (and breeders, which is where we're going in U.S. it seems). Maybe more empty race tracks will convince.

X Y Jet, et. al. That's what perps used to tell me when I was in dog rescue, that they can do what they wish with animals the "own", when I got to meet them in court ...........and burn them to the ground in front of the prosecuting attorney for animal abuse.

I guess you think maybe we should have "kept our noses out of trainer/owner business" when they went after Servis, Navarro, etc. too.

The rest of the greater racing world, in the jurisdictions where there is trust , all believe in MORE TRANSPARENCY, not less.

I don’t think ALL information needs to be provided. It’s odd to expect it be shared. Like I said, these are privately owned animals. If someone had a fever or wacked themselves in the stall - what does that have to with the public?

I am curious and care about the horses I follow. I also have a veterinary background so am really interested in injuries and illnesses from a medical POV. I know there are owners on this forum that feel the value should be protected and the public does not need to know anything. That is a very ingrained old school way of thinking. that reflects the pervasive secrecy in racing. I respect that opinion which the same people make over and over here. But what I loved about Rick Porter is he was so transparent and shared X rays, test results etc so everyone could learn and so fans did not worry. But we can agree to disagree. I have less interest in this year’s BC than in past years.

You must not play other jurisdictions around the world where transparency is the name of the game, and why they have huge racing interest and crowds.

You must not buy any stocks on Wall Street, either. I don't think anyone would suggest an "investment" in a company that hid information. Its still a form of gambling, except we expect to have good information.

If owners want to share the info, they should, but I could also seeing it being a very slippery slope. After being involved with many MRH horses, I could see PETA and witch hunters having a field day with how easy Thoroughbreds injure themselves. You just look at them wrong and they require 60 days off it seems.
