3xG1W Bradsell (Tasleet × Russian Punch, by Archipenko) will retire to the National Stud in England for next year after the Breeders’ Cup.
And it seems that Sands of Mali (by Panis) is now at the center of a lawsuit.

Is it just me, or have the recent acquisitions of Claiborne have anyone else going "huh"?

It seems like outside pressure; since the "other farms" are just syndicating anything with a set of nuts.ForTheThrill wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:52 pm Is it just me, or have the recent acquisitions of Claiborne have anyone else going "huh"?

While he wasn't a top-tier racehorse, I understand Bright Future well enough. Curlin is a budding sire of sires and Bright Future is o/o a G3P mare who has also produced G2W Musical Mischief. Then, of course, the 3rd dam also produced Hall of Famer Housebuster. The female family, while not pumping out G1 horses left and right, is doing okay enough with G3W Ironstone and a handful of graded-placed horses in recent years. It's not a super deep female family, but it's had its moments lately. As much as I hate to say it, Curlin is getting older. Farms are trying to get his sons while they still can.ForTheThrill wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:52 pm Is it just me, or have the recent acquisitions of Claiborne have anyone else going "huh"?
Prince of Monaco, aside from being a precocious G1-winning son of Speightstown, I understand a lil' less. His 3rd dam produced G1W Adieu, and his female family has recently produced G3W Cavalry Charge and millionaire Necker Island, but overall it's not a very deep female family. I guess they're hoping he'll be the next Munnings, or at the very least he may turn out to be one of Speightstown's useful but affordable sons like Jersey Town, Poseidon's Warrior, Central Banker, Tamarkuz, etc.

Who else are we figuring will end up retiring this year? Though I haven't heard anything about it, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Mr Fisk ending up in California. He was vanned off after his win in the G2 Hollywood Gold Cup and had a successful surgery for a condylar fracture. He was supposed to get at least four months off then they'd reevaluate but as a son of Arrogate I would not be surprised to see a farm scoop him up.
Another son of his I see retiring soonish is G3 Canadian Derby winner Abeliefinthislivin. He hasn't raced since that win in 2023, and while he's worked consistently here and there with breaks in between, I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire to stud somewhere in Canada. Arrogate isn't doing bad there, between him and recent G3W Apprehend, but it's just a completely unfounded left-based guess from me lmao.

I think it could be possible White Abarrio retire this year, if not early next year. I know he's pointed to the Pegasus in January, but I bet he'll be retired soon enough.

They aren't going to get huge names because their stallions dont cover 200 mares. And they dont want their stallions covering 200 mares. So either the owner has to choose Claiborne and stay in on the stallion or they dont get the big names.ForTheThrill wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:52 pm Is it just me, or have the recent acquisitions of Claiborne have anyone else going "huh"?

Honestly this is why Claiborne is one of my favorites. No monster books for there stallions and they tend to hang on to their stallions longer then other farms so they get a chance.

As much as I called his retirement, it's still disappointing. Feel like we had a lot to see from the big guy!Mylute wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 10:45 am G1W King of Steel (Wootton Bassett × Eldacar, by Verglas) has been retired to Tally Ho Stud.

Maybe also Mystik Dan? I know they’re gearing him up for a 4 year old campaign, but those Into Mischiefs and his sons and grandsons are anything but durable

I think we'll see Mystik Dan around as a 4yo, but if I had to take a wild guess he'll start to taper off halfway through his 4yo season, will "get a few months rest", and then have a stud deal announced shortly after. Hopefully I'm wrong lolstelladaniella wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 10:55 amI think that White Abarrio and Reincarnate will retire too.Psychotic Parakeet wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 3:24 pmMy guesses:Nenikikamen23 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 1:40 pm Who else are we figuring will end up retiring this year?
