Spaliday (More Than Ready x Dayatthespa [City Zip]) ran down Macanga (American Pharoah) to win the G2 Sands Point at Belmont@Aqueduct. Her turn-of-foot in the stretch reminded me of her wonderful dam.

Just a few weeks ago, people were calling Tepin a dud producer. Now she's had two graded stakes wins in just one week, and one was a Grade 1. This stuff really can change so quickly.
Losing Tepin already hurt, but there's an extra pang to lose a promising mare so young.

Tonight Duncan Idaho (Fiber Sonde x Holy Pow Wow) won the WV Dash For Cash Breeders' Classic, and a few races later his younger sister Overnight Pow Wow won the WV Cavada Breeders' Classic and older brother Muad'dib finished 3rd in the WV Breeders Classic (a race he has won twice). The three are full siblings to G3 winner Late Night Pow Wow.

That WV Breeders Classic was a really exciting race, with the three grey noses of Runaldo, Jubawithatwist and Muad`dib coming to the wire together. I've watched Muad`dib run for a few years now, and that is one classy, professional racehorse. I hope the tall, handsome grey finds a lovely 2nd career when he finally retires.

It's a shame but I'm hopeful these two will carry on her legacy not just on the track but in the shed as well.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 4:18 pmJust a few weeks ago, people were calling Tepin a dud producer. The one article I saw made it sound like Grateful was retired already. Like her winning a G1 made her retired instantly.Starine wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 9:15 pmIt's a shame but I'm hopeful these two will carry on her legacy not just on the track but in the shed as well.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 4:18 pmJust a few weeks ago, people were calling Tepin a dud producer. Yes, Grateful is retired. After her G1 win I guess she's more valuable as a broodmare, since Tepin is gone. I'm happy that Tepin left three daughters and a son to carry on her legacy.Flanders wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 10:17 pmThe one article I saw made it sound like Grateful was retired already.
