The current track has Milton making landfall south of Tampa, so the farms in Ocala should be mostly okay. I’m just outside Tampa, so we’re hoping it goes waaaaaayyyyy south. If it comes up Tampa Bay, it’s going to be a utter catastrophe.

I'm another of the Florida crew, but a bit further north and east. Just sent my draft MS on Holy Bull up to the editor in Kentucky in case things go really skewiffey. At least I don't have horses to worry about.

Three hurricanes in three months. Not the worst 'cane season I've had around here in 30+ years (2004 topped the charts with four blowing through), but this does get a touch old.

I'm seeing a visual/meme elsewhere on ND that says "Cancel my subscription to Hurricane of the Month, please." :(
I feel you.

Stay safe. I think I’m going to stop watching the wobble for now.

My family all live in Polk County and we remember 2004 VERY well.

i saw people recommend you write your name somewhere in your body so you can get identified in case the worst happens. we didn't have a hurricane here in Brazil but my state flooded badly a few months ago and so many people drowned and couldn't get identified because they didn't have their IDs.

additionally if you have animals tie a cow tag to their collar with your number in them.

hoping y'all stay safe. please give us updates if you can

I’m in Palm Beach County, so I don’t think we’ll be getting hit by Milton, but we will be getting heavy wind and rain

I’ve been down here just over 2 years, and I’ll never get used to the kind of rain we get regularly here. I didn’t like heavy rain in NY, and I don’t like it now - I always fear here that our roof will collapse (it’s old). We’re actually allowed now to put up hurricane shutters, though I don’t think we’ll be doing that (I would, lol)

Stay safe, fellow Floridians !

Watching the various weather channels' maps of this storm is stunning. Nowhere in most of Florida is really safe, and Milton is throwing off a huge number of tornadoes. :o
Take cover, Floridians. :(

We’re okay—even still have power—but it’s blowing pretty hard right now. It looks like the eye is going to pass just south of us.

do you have all your devices charged?

nothing like the hurricane obviously, winds "only" reached 62mph here, but we had a cyclone where i live back in January out of nowhere and i had no battery on my phone. went 7 days without power. can't imagine how long some people will be out of power for there

We dont ship our horses down to Wellington until end of November, but Wellingon aka big time horse country got hit with a tornado. Havent heard if there were any casualties or injuries but lots of horse trailers and RVs flipped over based on what I’ve seen on instagram.

Yes…we have multiple phones, and we’ve made sure to charge our phones in case we lose power. We’re not in the path, but we still have a Tropical Storm warning

We had a tornado watch earlier - never hit a warning here. But if it does, straight to the bathroom

i was thinking about WEC. they have the structure to withstand what they'll get hit with, right??

i had to charge my phone in my car. i'm really high up so i was lucky enough not to have my frontyard under water and could get the car in and out.
