It bothers me that they photoshopped him onto that background. They could have at least added a shadow under himMylute wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 10:11 am 2021 South African Triple Crown Winner MALMOOS (Captain Al × Justthewayyouare, by Fort Wood) at Ridgemont Highlands Stud.
Not very impressed, by South Africa seems to really struggle in the conformation shot department. He seems naturally long-bodied but this is not helped because they have him stretched out.

This looks like a new one for Benbatl (Dubawi × Nahrain, by Selkirk) who is a bit less race fit.

It could be the way he's posed (fresh off the track) but he definitely looks over-at-the-knee on both front legs.
Surely they'll take a better one.
I don't know what ultimately caused his retirement but he did compete from age 2 through 5, winning every year, at least.

Unless I have the completely wrong horse, it's quite hard to believe its the same horse? I mean that's the bayest "chestnut" i have ever seen. But at the same time there's also a couple that slightly show the red. I horse of two identities apparently.Mylute wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 5:04 pm G2W Last Samurai (Malibu Moon × Lady Samuri, by First Samurai) at Lake Hamilton Equine Center in Arkansas for 2025.

True, on first glance, it would be easy to say this horse is a bay. But in a photograph like this where lighting can really affect color appearance, and looking with more attention than just a glance, his tail is clearly, to me anyway, the same color as his body and not pure black. That's an almost certain chestnut giveaway.Essential Quality wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 8:54 pmUnless I have the completely wrong horse, it's quite hard to believe its the same horse? Another thing for me, with a closer look, is that I don't think he has any black points on his legs.....anywhere. Don't bay horses always have black points of some sort even when they have white socks or stockings? I may be wrong about that, but I've always associated bays with black points somewhere on their legs.

There are Bay horses without the black points. It's called wild bay and the points can be just a little darkish hair around the hoof. There used to be a thread for them on the forum.Missbeholder wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 3:48 pmTrue, on first glance, it would be easy to say this horse is a bay. A bit curious why very few race fit horses are shown. Is this a breeding only thread?

His face looks a bit too big for his body (or maybe his neck is just very delicate), and reminds me a lot of Justify.Nenikikamen23 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 11:38 am Bright Future (Curlin - Sophia's Song, by Bellamy Road)

His neck and head do look like they belong to a different horse. There's an unofficial photo on Instagram that still shows a short neck and hoof issues but not as bad as this photo makes it look.

A lot of KY stallions has that clear cushion on their fronts. War of Will, War Front, and others. Noticed some mares also do. What are they?

Basically breeding has shifted towards what sells . Care has gone out the window for breeding horses with good hooves and legs. So between bad farriers, bad genetics or a mix of both alot of thoroughbreds have crappy feet. Those glue on shoes basically help stallions or mares with bad feet that can't handle shoes (ex cracks, thin soles etc) be more comfortable.

its just a new version of glue on shoe. There is a youtuber who tried them on her horses if you want to see how they work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo_0BgcFPiIflytpthestars wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 2:35 pm A lot of KY stallions has that clear cushion on their fronts.
