The crew on FSN2 just relayed some thoughts from Next's people....that IF he can make it to the BC, they would choose the BC Turf. It's all about the distance for Next, not as much the surface. They feel he does better when he has the space to get into that ground-eating rhythm.

He does well in the dirt marathons because he actually wants the distance and can finish his races, whereas his opponents do not and cannot. In the Turf he'll meet horses who finish and want to run even further. I know the pace scenario will likely be tough for him in the Classic, but I think he has a higher ceiling in that race.

Absolutely love this horse. The first Dubawi to win 6 G1’s.

Such a handsome horse, with the race record and pedigree to be a really good stallion.
Too bad he's a gelding. :(

If he wasnt a gelding, he wouldnt have that race record though. Darley already stands 6 sons of Dubawi.

Maybe true. Guess I have a soft spot for black horses and, besides, I can not be the only one who wonders, "What if..." when we have a really good gelding who had all the assets to be a really good stallion. Except for the family jewels.

I agree. I think he has a much better chance in the Classic.

It would be a hoot if Next goes in the Classic....and then runs away from all those more-favored colts. Talk about throwing HotY into chaos.

No BC for Book'em Danno

instead he is pointing to the Perryville at Keeneland, then the Cigar Mile(PR forgot this isn't a G1 anymore) or Malibu. After that he will point to the Middle East meets, he *might* go to the Saudi Cup or the Riyadh Dirt Sprint and Dubai Golden Shaheen.
