Tessablue wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 7:44 pm Arthur's Ride can definitely get 10f, he ran a huge figure earlier this year the distance. He just looked very uncomfortable out of the gate and seemed to just sort of resent receiving all that outside pressure. Very disappointing, especially after those huge past two races. Hopefully he comes out of it okay.

Pretty nice effort by Highland Falls, but that final furlong in 27 seconds... ouch. Will see how the figure comes back, but he might have finished fourth in the Travers.
Does that big figure show that Arthur’s Ride can get 10f in top company? The first 1/4 of the BC Classic will make or break the race for him. I think he’ll need to negotiate it much the way Chrome did the 2016 Pacific Classic. I don’t follow QH racing closely anymore but whoever the top QH jock is at Los Al, Mott might want to give him a look.

Good for the 9yo, but when that race became the Off-The-Turf Monster, it kind of became a toss-up who would handle dirt instead.

He is entered in the Lukas Classic next Saturday. Strangely his last race was also the Lukas Classic.

Just looking into Proxy's pedigree. I seen that one of his half-siblings named Hunting Ground raced until he was 10, he raced in 3 countries (Great Britain, UAE, and even Oman), he made $217,960.

They’re just trying to space his races.

They finally said he had bone bruising that kept him out of training and if he wins they want to go to the Classic.

Speaking as a big Rattle 'n Roll fan I think he fits much much better in the Dirt Mile, especially after a layoff.

Though I don't think the 2024 Dirt Mile will be an easy task either...

The field for the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (G2):

3. Emmanuel (Last ran 5th in the G3 Mint Millions S. 9/7)
4. War Like Goddess (Last ran 2nd in the G2 Flower Bowl S. 8/31)
5. Truly Quality (Last ran 1st in the Colonial Cup S. 9/7)
6. Silver Knott (GB) (Last ran 3rd in G1 Sword Dancer S. 8/24)

I'm rooting for War Like Goddess to win, she's won it the past 2 years.

I wouldn't mind if she took it, but I'll be rooting for Emmanuel.

That's a decent field between him, Disarm, Hit Show and Stilleto Boy if he's right.

The headline about this race in the Paulick Report made it sound like Lukas was now training Hit Show when it is still Brad Cox.

I wonder if retirement is imminent for Champagne winner and Preakness runner-up Blazing Sevens, who ran off the board in an allowance at Aqueduct today.

Oh I thought he was already retired when they announced he was standing at Darby Dan next year.

The Woodward ended up with only four runners, and the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic only five. :(
The heavy rain NY has been dealing with made today's races at Aqueduct a bit of a need-swim-fins challenge.

Churchill is WAY sloppy, the result of getting inundated with Helene's rain bands. Only four horses left in the Ack Ack, but the Lukas Classic still has it's planned field of eight....so far.
