I’m sure Andre Fabre is a nice man, but I don’t know if he would enter a 5 time group 2/3 winner in a race just to help out Charlie Appleby. Godolphin usually leaves the team tactics to Ballydoyle, especially when it comes to entries from different trainers.
I don’t think he was entered as a pacemaker, but he sure ran like one.

Big weekend across the pond: the Doncaster St. Leger Festival, Irish Champions Festival at Leopardstown and the Curragh, and Arc Preview Day at Longchamp.

Economics won the Irish Champion S (G1) over Auguste Rodin, who decided to run today.

Jan Brueghel won the St. Leger (G1) over Illinois.

Pota Fortuna took the Matron (G1) over Fallen Angel.

Fantastic race in the Irish Champion. Was nice to see Auguste Rodin actually go down swinging for once.

There were rumours that Economics bled badly after he won the Dante, hence the long (unexplained) layoff. Here’s hoping that he comes out of the Irish Champion in good shape and lines up in the British Champion.

Huge race by A Shin Emperor. That should set him up nicely for the Arc. Can he emulate his brother with almost an identical prep run before winning at Longchamp?

Yeah, Irish Champion Stakes was a very thrilling race and I was impressed by Economics who fought back gamely over Auguste Rodin.
I think that the winner has a great name, too, when European economy remains uncertain, haha.
It's a bit shame that he will not run in the Arc and a rematch between Shin Emperor and him will not materialize at least this year.

Impressive with huge stride. No real kickback on the synthetic so we’ll see how he handles that., Wish they showed a post-work interview with Aiden and Ryan.
