I’m personally happy with his he’s done - 3 SP horses, and some I’m very high on - but he bred 39 mares last year, probably about the same this year, and based on the posts indicating who mares will be bred to next year, he’s likely to be bred to around the same number in 2025
I’m a worrier, so maybe I’m just being silly - but do I have reason to be concerned?

Lane's End has always moved stallions on, maybe for a bit they gave some more time. Its going to come down to who is in the syndicate, does the stallion's foals look like they'll improve? Do they just want to cash out and sell the stallion when he doesn't look like he is doing well?Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 1:16 pm I know nothing about how Catalina Cruiser has done as a sire, but he’s only got 2 crops to the races. Catalina Cruiser got zero SWs. No syndicate is going to keep on a stallion that can't get GSWs, let alone SWs.
If its this point next year and HAP doesn't have any GSWs, then yes worry. But why worry for a year? Whatever is going to happen, is going to happen. Don't worry, put that energy into hoping he gets many GSWs.

Mineshaft got off to a poor start, but has become a very fine sire…but of course he was by Indy and HOY
I love that attitude - I’m manifesting positive thoughts! I’m absolutely confident that he’s going to be successful - and since I’m happy now, like you said, why worry?
Thanks!

Regarding Catalina Cruiser - His 2yo son, Artislas, just won the G3 Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes against a large field.

Artislas has an interesting female side. His third dam is Toussad but his own dam Moms Pride is an Into Mischief that was "bred" (foaled) in France. It doesn't look like any of Moms Pride's siblings have done much on the track.

Wish he was in the mid-Atlantic for the steeplechase folks to use, not too many chances to breed to a full brother to a G1 hurdler.Psychotic Parakeet wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 9:10 pm Colonel John is going to stand stud at Caines Stallion Station in Wynwood, Oklahoma. Looks like a Haflinger. And some groom is keeping his flaxen locks in fine condition.

I thought this post showing Spendthrift's 1982 Roster was pretty interesting. Freaking massive amount of stallions, so many I've never heard of before. I uploaded the pics to imgur so anyone who doesn't use X or can't could also see.

Good it's honestly revolting what Winstar did, even more so they are keeping that vet on staff. And lord knows just how many other farms do this without being caughtFlanders wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 6:33 pm Federal Judge Denies Laoban Mortality Insurance Claim

That’s a trip down Memory Lane. I remember just about every one of those guys. Two CA Breds among them. Those were truly the days of decadence. Did anyone ever see Brownwell Combs and Gordon Gekko in the same place at the same time?Flanders wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 5:43 pm I thought this post showing Spendthrift's 1982 Roster was pretty interesting.
