Yeah and he was owned by multiple billionaires who dumped him on New Vocations, to dump on someone else to take care of the rest of his life. Its awful.Izvestia wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 2:40 pmHe’s 3….BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 3:46 pm "$1.1 million Justify gelding....."

What’s wrong with New Vocations? And what should the owners have done with him? This way he will wind up with people who love himFlanders wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 7:58 pmYeah and he was owned by multiple billionaires who dumped him on New Vocations, to dump on someone else to take care of the rest of his life. There is nothing wrong with New Vocations. They were put in a position to have to put someone else in the position of taking care of this horse. Coolmore should have taken care of him the rest of his life or donated greatly to get him into a retirement facility. There are so many horses that needs homes, retraining, etc., I see them every time I open social media. The lists of Thoroughbreds at kill auctions. I guess I'm tired of people with the means to care for their horses dumping them on someone else.

Ok, that’s fair - I didn’t know who owned the poor horse. Owners have a responsibility to their horses to do right by them.Flanders wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 4:40 pmThere is nothing wrong with New Vocations. And it’s really hard to find homes for unrideable companion horses. He’s 3, that’s a lot of years of taking care of a big, expensive animal. Shoes every 6-8 weeks… who knows what is up with those knees.
I retired my OTTB from riding and cared for him until he died, but he was in his 20’s!!!
Hopefully Coolmore donated money alongside the horse.

I discovered that New Vocations is adopting out a pair of half brothers whose their last races they ran against each other, I thought that was cool.

Me too. An Arrogate filly out of a Bernardini mare? And she wasn't considered worth keeping as a broodmare?
Does she have some terrible conformation flaws that my amateur eyes aren't seeing?
