Maybe they are trying to go back to old school times when stallions were not bred to more than 50 mares a season. They're winning at that race for sure.

I'm not complaining about that I hate how high the books are for some stallions. But they seem to be the only big farm the always has some stallions who never cover

I agree. It is better for the horse. I wonder if they are trying to phase themselves out of the sport altogether? It seems weird that they are doing less-and-less each passing year.Akitaperson wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 6:26 pm I'm not complaining about that I hate how high the books are for some stallions. After seeing that Coolmore sent at least 60 of their own mares to Justify, I’m surprised that his book isn’t 300+.
No wonder he isn’t going to Australia, poor guy has probably been asleep for the last month

I can't imagine how expensive it must be now to insure Justify.
I doubt he will ever set foot on an airplane again. Wonder if Coolmore has a stall for him two feet deep in bedding and with the walls padded.

Ah, going back through the forum it appears I did, in fact, know that. I wonder how much longer till Jim Bolger buys him back and brings him home. He is pretty loyal to former trainees that dont make it as stallions. He privates stands a handful of less fashionable horses, like Dawn Approach.
Though maybe one of Poetic Flare’s limited runners will burn up the track and Shadai will keep persisting. If War Emblem taught us anything, it’s that they won’t give up on a stallion with a bit of promise.

It's now September 2 and Walmac and Buck Pond still don't have their RMBs in. Buck Pond doesn't surprise me. Theirs for 2023 weren't even in at the time of the 2024 January Sale. But what gives with Walmac? This isn't the first year the new owner has been standing stallions there.

Can a mare be sold at one of the November sales if the covering stallion's RMB hasn't been submitted yet? I don't think they can. They don't send service certificates to the Stallion Manager until the RMB has been received right? And can't sell a mare without the service certificate. So no one that has one of those mares can sell them. Time is running out, they better hurry.mariasmon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 2:46 am It's now September 2 and Walmac and Buck Pond still don't have their RMBs in. Buck Pond doesn't surprise me. Remind me why they were so quick to retire Siskin to stud?

Its hard to know if you are actually asking or just asking as in a why did they retired him to barely breed mares(sort of rhetorical question). If actually asking, Juddmonte sold his breeding rights in summer of his 3yo year and that is how it goes. Don't think it was anything beyond that, they were open that he was not racing at 4. He didn't have that good of a 3yo year, though he only raced 4 times. Guess they needed some money, though tbf Juddmonte has always sold a lot of their good colts on.

Yeah I was speaking rhetorically or sarcastically. I remember when he first retired and everyone was like ??? and then saw that he barely got any mares that first season. However while I could be confusing him with another horses I also have a vague memory that he has some issues with breeding which inherently limits the amount he can do or get.Flanders wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 9:21 am Its hard to know if you are actually asking or just asking as in a why did they retired him to barely breed mares(sort of rhetorical question). Yeah something happened to him his first year or before the season that limited him to 20 mares or foals(I dont remember which). That is a huge hit to a stallion to be so limited.Mylute wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 9:25 amYeah I was speaking rhetorically or sarcastically. I think they can. If you recall, the mare Mims Eppi was recently rescued and sent to Our Mims. She sold in January and the catalog said that she was bred to Jackie's Warrior and believed to be in foal. In reality, she was in foal to Shancelot and the RMB had not yet been submitted.Flanders wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 6:38 amCan a mare be sold at one of the November sales if the covering stallion's RMB hasn't been submitted yet?
