Pretty sure he is a pasture pet somewhere. I’ll try and find article.Nenikikamen23 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 1:03 pm Black Onyx was one of the horses who got me into racing, he’s definitely one. I’d love to know if he’s retired as a pet somewhere or something, since his stud career didn’t work out.

I think his last crop was born in 2014, but zero indication if he was pensioned, passed away, or any information beyond that. I believe he was one of the stallions that needed a muzzle and a baseball bat when accompanied to the breeding shed.Akitaperson wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 8:21 pm Spinning World was featured in that blog about meanest stallions alive right?
I saw on pedigredquery (so take with a grain of salt) after leaving the US he stood at coolemore Australia, new Zealand and Japan. Not sure which order but I didn't find him on the covering sires list in Japan for 2012

Spinning World was last at Coolmore Australia. He was on their roster for 2014 when they announced their stud fees but he didn't have any foals born in 2015. That stud fee announcement was the last thing I could find about him. I pm'd RugbyGirl to see if she could add any insight.
And yes he always had a muzzle on and the groom always had a stick. The only photo I saw of him after retirement without a muzzle was his conformation shot. Like look at the groom's face, its full of distrust and worry.

Now ofc that doesn't answer your question was just saying they almost all disappeared. The mares were never bred again, most of the stallions disappeared too. Then the link to the Stronach mares thread that was mentioned: https://www.horse-racing-forum.com/foru ... f=4&t=6534 Can't imagine the ones that disappeared ended with a good fate.
I'd love to know what happened with them. I'm assuming because the farm was caught these horses couldn't be bred at least for foals registered to the jockey club?

Florida Holiday (full sibling to Into Mischief)
Coliseum

He was taking a break at Legacy Ranch, and started back on the worktab earlier this month at Del Mar. He published his last work five days ago.
I wanna do bad things with you.

The JC only cancelled papers on some of the foals born/bred at the farm. Future foals would have been able to be registered, just most likely not foals resulting from breedings on that farm during that woman's time.Akitaperson wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 11:04 amFlanders wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 5:27 pmCan add about any horse that was at that farm at that time. Coliseum was retired under the Godolphin banner so he would be in their lifetime care program. I know that doesn't say specifically where he is but least you know he is in a good home. They retire so many horses ever year into their program that they only note the really big name ones.

From RugbyGirl:
Have yet to find a death date but he was retired in 2014 due to fertility issues which was always a problem for him
This is from a Australian forum post in 2011
"Sent her to Spinning World first serve and she's in foal
... and Spinning World hasn't managed to get even 70% fertility for years!"
"I was warned by Coolmore that SW had fertility trouble. They were up front about it."
I'll add a death date on the post once I get it

Secret Stranger - Skip Away x Lady's Secret, foaled 2002. Gelded.
Excellent Secret - Mr. Prospector x Lady's Secret, foaled 1994. Stood in Texas allegedly, would assume he's passed by now.
Famous Again - Thunder Gulch x Lady's Secret, foaled 1997. Stood in Mexico.
Always wondered what happened with them. Maybe not very notable racehorses or in the breeding shed, but anything out of Lady's Secret feels pretty valuable.

If anybody knows it’s Patricia McQueen. She and I have talked about Secret Stranger before and I’m pretty sure he’s MIA. I believe the couple that had Lady’s Secret at the end are out of the business.stelladaniella wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 5:37 pm Secret Stranger - Skip Away x Lady's Secret, foaled 2002. Gelded.

Yeah. I've been trying to get a hold of the last known owners. No luck.Curtis wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 9:12 pmIf anybody knows it’s Patricia McQueen. His last listed stud fee was for $1,500 in 2007 at Q6 Ranch near Salado, Texas. Then it went to being $0 from 2008 to 2011. In 2012, no more stud fee listed, zero notation of pensioned, death, or moved from that point on. Last crop of foals were born in 2011. That is unfortunately all I could find.stelladaniella wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 5:37 pm Excellent Secret - Mr. Prospector x Lady's Secret, foaled 1994. We know what happened to many of the stallions that were standing at Florida's Prestige Stallions (formerly Stonewall among other names, people have joked the property is cursed) when it closed in 2019 (strangles outbreak, scandals) but there's a few that have fallen off the map. I think there were some elderly pensioners that were reportedly at the property at the time too.

There is "report" that he was "sent to Texas trainer Brad Bolen per Bloodhorse" in 2020 included on his PQ profile. I don't know when this was added but it's been there a long time. He'd been retired for 5 years at this point. I assumed (or hoped) that meant he was going to be a lead pony or perhaps a teaser stallion in Texas.Izvestia wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:43 pmPretty sure he is a pasture pet somewhere. I, too, love(d) Black Onyx. Maybe one of his fillies will become a broodmare and have a couple good ones. And maybe he will end up at Old Friends someday or something so I can pet him.
