Just from videos I have seen of him he was a very beloved horse. He looked fantastic for his age.

Per the Korea stud book Tiz Plan, a 9 year old son of Tiznow, has passed away. From a post on Twitter it seems to be laminitis or some other soundness issue

That report doesn't list the owner, but it sounds like extreme neglect by the trainer. I wonder if there will be any consequences for Romero.

Holy f***. What the hell. That poor horse. Carlton Hing listed as owner, same trainer, in his last race.Mylute wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 4:23 pm Winner Jungfrau (Arrogate - South Bank) was euthanized at Belmont Park on August 24. Juddmonte family.

Obviously had something going on - bought for $100,000 July/23, raced twice for Qatar Racing and Brad Cox, Sept and Dec/23, then dropped for a $40,000 tag and was claimed. Never better than 4th after his 1 win for Juddmonte, steadily dropped to $16,000 where he was claimed by the shitty trainer.
Horses deserve more than this.

I am a bit confused by this TBH. It read to me that he was discovered to have the leg injury at some point after the August 23 gallop, presumably that day, then was found "in distress and declining health" the next day. It didn't specify what time of distress. I associate the term "declining health" with an elderly horse or a horse that has been battling an illness, disease, or infection for a long time, rather than an orthopedic injury.
Is there a way to know if he recieved any vet care on August 23? I'm not trying to defend these guys at all; I don't know anything about this particular trainer/owner/stable. But the report is written somewhat vaguely and it is unfortunately not rare for a horse to come out of an exercise with a problem that is not the result of neglect.

I agree with you. Like if the horse was injured while training, it wouldn't be listed as "Other". Maybe the horse worked the one day and the next day they found him in extreme distress. Perhaps he got cast in his stall overnight? I mean it could very well be that it was horrible connections but to me it could just as easily be, the horse injured himself overnight. The way its written it makes it seem like he worked and then had a swollen leg but it could just be poor reporting.Mylute wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 9:10 am I am a bit confused by this TBH. It's been mention on the racing thread, but The Big Torpedo broke down in the stretch of the Saranac Stakes and was euthanized on the course. RIP pretty boy.
