Power Squeeze is a very nice filly, too bad she’s in the same crop as Thorpedo! An Alabama winner for Union Rags!CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 5:48 pm WOW what a race! Power Squeeze and Candied ran such a great race!

i will never ever root for New York Thunder's trainer to win anything. i was extremely sorry and mad to see him win that grade 1 yesterday. i feel badly for the filly, not her fault. but i cannot in good conscience ever root for that guy after what he did to New York Thunder. i am still sick about it. and i will never forget or forgive him for it. why owners who 'love' their horses would give this guy their animals to 'care' for is absolutely beyond me. it really disturbs and disgusts me. and racing should never have allowed him to continue in this sport!

That’s why I long ago stopped rooting for people in the sport. I have a friend or two who own horses and that’s the exception. I do hold my breath when they tell me what trainer they employed. Humans are complicated, horses not so much. I root for horses and I wear a pair of full cup blinkers while doing it.luvsgeldings wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 9:45 am i will never ever root for New York Thunder's trainer to win anything. i was extremely sorry and mad to see him win that grade 1 yesterday. i feel badly for the filly, not her fault. but i cannot in good conscience ever root for that guy after what he did to New York Thunder. i am still sick about it. and i will never forget or forgive him for it. why owners who 'love' their horses would give this guy their animals to 'care' for is absolutely beyond me. it really disturbs and disgusts me. and racing should never have allowed him to continue in this sport!

It looked to me like Chatalas’ hindquarters kind of slipped out from under her and she lost her action and drifted out into other horses

I don't hide the fact there are certain ownership groups and trainers I dislike but on the other hand I don't always pay attention to who trains what horse, especially if it isn't one of the bigger-name stables. I didn't recognize the name Jorge Delgado and was mostly wanting Power Squeeze to win because she is by Union Rags and is just a very good filly that deserves it.

I agree with you. if someone doesn't ignore the connections, they are going to run out of horses to root for very fast.Curtis wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 12:08 pmThat’s why I long ago stopped rooting for people in the sport. I saw the DRF framing her victory as "triumph after tragedy" for her trainer and I just... no. Everyone knows what happened to New York Thunder, including NYRA, and I'm a little surprised he was allowed to return to the circuit this year. Horses are by far the most interesting thing about this sport and I understand looking past odious connections, but the racing media at the very least needs to get its head out of the sand.
