I'm curious if South American farms even advertise stud fees? I don't know that I can recall ever seeing one. I feel like they always say something along the lines of "Please contact for details". I will say that I've never gone looking for that information either. I just don't ever remember seeing a fee when I was looking at rosters or trying to find where a stallion was standing.

I will say though that there is no way that shuttle stallions stud fees are remotely what they are in the US. Its going to be what the local economy can support. We can use Justify as an example though he shuttled to Australia. He was standing in the US for 200k but standing in Australia for 77k AUD(about 50k USD).

While I agree that its insane for a new stallion to start out at a stud fee over 100k, its been happening for a long time. It just doesn't happen that often. I'm guessing the mega initial stud fees started during the early 80s when stud fees were astronomically high. I wish it was simple to find a stallions stud fee for the early to mid 80s, I would find it interesting to use an inflation calculator to be able to compare it to today. I was able to find Spectacular Bid's was 150k when he went to stud in 1981, that is over 500k today. But I don't really know fees during that time, only things I've read. Others I can think of, Easy Goer and Smarty Jones started at 100k, Point Given at 125k, Justify at 150k, American Pharoah, Ghostzapper and Flightline at 200k(I may be forgetting someone, I couldn't find Affirmed or Seattle Slew's initial stud fees). I tried pulling old stallion registers but because of the small books of mares they bred, they were almost always listed as private or book full (with no fee listed).

The very small sentimental side of me, kind of hopes that the Casners bought him back with some of the money they got from selling his sister(Kayce Ace)'s yearling at Saratoga. Since they have a strong tie to that family.
