These National Hunt stallions are not ridiculously cheap. Yeats for instance stands for about $8,000, whist Flemensfirth costs about $14,000.

National Hunt racing is huge in the UK, possible more popular than flat racing. Certainly the most popular race festival of the year is the Cheltenham Festival. Also, the most popular race of the year is of course the Grand National which is run over about 4 miles over fences, so you can see why talented racehorses with some stamina are popular with National Hunt breeders.

I said very cheap, not ridiculously cheap. Very cheap in that you can go to Yeats for 8000, or go to a Coolmore flat sire for 20x that

In my opinion it is ridiculously cheap for the greatest stayer of all time.

It does seem a bit cheap, and surprising, considering he's a gorgeous horse, four-time Gold Cup winner and a son of the late, great Sadler's Wells.
I know the USA has little respect for true stayers, but I thought Britain might be wiser.

The problem for even a great stayer is that there just aren't that many opportunities for them; hence the lack of interest in the studs.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Frank Stronach has purchased an undisclosed interest in Mucho Macho Man for both racing and breeding. MMM will stay with Ritvo and run in the Reeves' colors, but he will stand at Adena (which stands his sire). Story up at DRF, but it's behind the paywall.

Fantastic! I'm happy with him getting a stud deal anywhere in the US.

New pic of ol' Kingmambo posted by Lane's End today

Image
Look who is checking out the camera to say hello to everyone - one of the world's greatest international sires, 23yo Kingmambo! Retired from breeding in 2010, Kingmambo stood his entire career here and went from $45k to $300k stud fee! He maintains his usual schedule and is well loved.

Really interesting way to promote the stallions.

Sounds like they need help getting mares to their stallions.

Yep. I'd rather go to Power Broker than New Years Day, but both stallions are over-priced.
