If the horse was bay they wouldnt have even seen it. If they are going to have a rule disqualifying a horse for a superficial nick on its leg, then let the horses wear boots or polos during the test.
Agreed. It's a really disappointing outcome.

What are you trying to show in those three photos? :?
Wait....what happened to the 3 pix of the chestnut in the ring? They disappeared after I wrote my post.

it's absolutely ridiculous that they'll eliminate someone for a mosquito sized speck of blood on their horse's leg but then let Adrienne Lyle ride her whole routine like this. and give her a 72% score for it.

I noticed that extreme flexion at the poll. I thought that rollkur had been deemed an unacceptable and injurious posture for the dressage horses.
Sorry to see that was foolish optimism.

I thought they get points off for the head going past the vertical - which is the case in each of these pics. I feel so sad for the horse.

i'm not sure what I'm seeing but those head positions look way too pulled under. Can't be comfortable for the horse.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Terrible to see such extreme rollkur-Should be disqualified. I also saw lots of tail swishing and wrenching and open mouths as well-all signs of tension, discomfort and resistance when watching yesterday. Many of those horses got high scores.

The skies opened up in a downpour over The Meadowlands, but even Mother Nature couldn't stop KARL, the 99th Hambletonian winner.

Did they run the Jonathan Kiser Memorial Novice Stakes over hurdles at Saratoga today? Fox was still showing drag racing when that race was supposed to go off, and DRF apparently doesn't bother with showing the Results for jumping races.

No it was cancelled due to "Track conditions".

Probably going to be the same this weekend, they are supposed to get a lot of rain.

So, what is going to happen with the past Saturday turf stakes that were postponed to this coming weekend?
They can't postpone again, can they? Will they move to the dirt? :?

They already said, probably going to move to Sunday. the Arlington Million card has already been postponed until Sunday as well.

I dunno if anyone caught the Jonathan Sheppard Handicap - Grade 1 (Race 1, 8-14-2024) hurdles at SAR today, but it was a blast. If you get a chance to watch the replay.

I always tune in if Keri Brion has a horse.

So first, a false start.

Then the race started again after everyone regrouped.

At the beginning there were 2 horses on the outside who looked like they were going to have a full out biting/boxing match. I was yelling "get them away from each other!" It was looking rather brutal.

Then, the favorite, Zarak, dumped his rider early on.

Jimmy P. a Keri Brion trained entry who ran 2nd in this race last year, won by about 20 lengths!

I'd say he is the real deal given his 2nd and now 1st. It was truly a sight to see, he separated himself out in the final going like he was shot out of a cannon.

Anyway, a really fun race to watch if you can catch a replay.

He is standing in the infield when they go by at 4:34, if you pause it you can see him back there, bright orange silks.

Zarak the Brave and Graham Watters both came out of the race ok.

Very nice win for Jimmy P even with the break in handicap weights he got. I still think there should be an asterisk beside these NYRA races since the 10yos who are at the top of the division are barred from running.
