She's also a great-granddaughter of Weekend Surprise in direct female line.

It is always nice to see Weekend Surprise in a pedigree, especially direct female line. Still producing high quality horses.

someone posted that since her speed figure was lower, she didn't belong, but i am pleased. i don't want to watch her beating up the same handful of fillies whose owners are just after some easy place money.

Agreed. And unless Fierceness or Sierra Leone wins the Jim Dandy in fantastic style, there really isn’t a superstar unbeatable colt being aimed at the Travers.

And what "big girls" are going to line up against her in that Alabama? If Thorpedo Anna enters the Alabama, we will likely see maybe a 4-horse field in one of the most prestigious races for 3yo fillies to be run the whole year. Is that what you want?

unless you mean older mares, you'd have to buy the three year olds you're thinking of and enter them yourself. i also think she'd win against older mares, if we're being honest.
as for the JD, yeah, still think she has a very live chance to win the travers.

Well, Fierceness did win the Jim Dandy in impressive fashion, with Sierra Leone a close second, but I'm hearing some hints that Fierceness might NOT run in the Travers. A quicker turn-around than the colt seems to prefer, so this will be a wait-and-see when Todd and Mike make a final decision.

Oaks-placed Regulatory Risk was dropping in class at Saratoga today, but in a crazy turn of events, she broke through the gate seconds before the gates opened, then ended up taking out two horses to her inside and being DQ's from 5th. Credit to the gate crew member who had the horse to her inside; he held her long enough that she was declared a non-starter, but probably prevented what could have been a serious injury. Scary stuff.
Edited to add that apparently people are mad at the gate crew for holding the #3... yeah, imagine her getting walloped in the neck and shoulder by a horse's hindquarters as she broke. Would have been horrible.

The Clement Hirsch(G1) got an interesting field with Pretty Mischievous and Scylla shipping in to face Adare Manor. 8 in the field, that is a rare sight anywhere now days.

Adare Manor favored over good group in Clement L. Hirsch

It's a really good group. Other members of the field include Scylla, Pretty Mischievous, Desert Dawn and the promising sophomore Sugar Fish.

Shocked and so saddened to hear this. She was a terrific mare who tried her best every race. Condolences to the connections and RIP.. I repeat my plea for all stakes horses to have to pass pre-race PET scans which likely would have picked up the microtrauma that often precedes these catastrophic breakdowns.
