A Day To Remember was third in his return. Looked like he had plenty left at the finish, but didn’t want to pass the winner.

Seize the Grey entered in Jim Dandy Stakes(G2) at Saratoga on 7/27
Straight No Chaser entered in Bing Crosby Stakes(G1) at Del Mar on 7/27
Visceral entered in MSW at Del Mar and finished 5th on 7/25

Improbable x Lahaina Luck named Improbable Luck
Intellectual to be gelded
Lady Blitz retired

Seize the Grey's up against stiff competition this Saturday. Many owners are optimistic on a win-I will be happy if he places/shows.
Visceral seems to be up next to be gelded also..and people are bitching and begging mrh not to geld him. Despite the trainer strongly recommending it and Visceral having a reputation in the barn as territorial

Turns out Visceral had an entrapped epiglottis so he may be spared from gelding as he had a good reason to do poorly since he couldn't breathe.

Straight No Chaser was scratched from the Bing Crosby.

Seize the grey ran 4th of 6 in the Jim dandy. Somethings gotta change with the horse. That's his second clunker in a row

Maybe a return to a mile and a drop in class. But that doesn’t help the kickers, does it? Lukas always says he is doing great. I still think a good thorough vet exam wouldn’t hurt either ( rule out ulcers, bone bruising, soft tissue strains etc). When I was at New Bolton Center we had something called “ NRFE”= Not Racing Fast Enough. Many horses came in for a NRFE work up. Sometimes they found a reason, many times the diagnosis was “too slow”.

He probably needs a break. He’s also not as good as the top 3-year-olds. Yes, I know he won the Preakness - it wasn’t the best field and he took advantage of his speed. This is the problem with Lukas, the horse will now race over his head forever.

Being a Classic winner, forever will mean after next year’s Pegasus.

I honestly don't think the work he had on Tuesday helped him at all. 47.99 for 4f a few days before race day? He has been working like his tail is on fire since the Belmont and even Lukas said that he wasn't wanting him to work that fast. I also am not sure that STG is a fan of deep dry tracks and may be why he does well on sealed/wet tracks. I don't see him racing much longer if he keeps throwing in poor performances.

I agree. I'd love for him to get a break. With impending stallion duty I think that's the break he'll get. People in the group are still talking breeders cup or even California Crown..I'm sitting here thinking not off those last two efforts. I'm sure I'll ruffle some feathers if I say that

Nice race by Pioneer Prince. Guess we’ll find out soon if he was claimed.

People are saying they saw a claim tag on his bridle. The annual bitching about how mrh has no patience with horses has already commenced. Pioneer prince proved today he found his level. His last race was a 50k starter optional claimer. He struggled and was fifth or sixth. Previous race he was eighth..eight different times they tried him in higher level competition and he struggled

Adaay in Asia finished 7th and was claimed
A Day to Remember finished 3rd
Hero Status finished 2nd
Rosie's Alibi finished 1st in Princess of Sylmar Stakes(Listed)
Seize the Grey finished 4th in Jim Dandy Stakes(G2)
Straight No Chaser scratched
Visceral finished 5th

Entries:
Guinevere entered in MSW at Belterra on 8/2
Here's the Kicker entered in MSW at Gulfstream on 8/4
Pioneer Prince entered in claiming at Del Mar on 8/1 and was claimed
Real Savvy entered for debut at Saratoga on 8/1 and finished 6th
Seismic Beauty entered for debut in MSW at Del Mar on 8/3
Sweet as Sin entered in MSW at Indiana Downs on 8/6

Seize the Grey did not do well, as predicted. Given his future as a stallion, there's a high chance he will be retired in the very near future. Of course, I'm sure the owners group will be complaining no matter what happens at this point. Goes to show, even if you do well with a horse there are always complainers.

MRH owners are weird about claims. No matter how many times a horse proves they're most competitive at claiming ranks, they blame MRH for "giving up".

Pioneer Prince was my first MRH horse so I'm particularly sorry to see him go. I think he can be a useful horse although there aren't all that many claiming races on turf in California. I wonder how much O'Neill will step him up--I think in California the starter allowances are NW2 conditions but I might be wrong. I know in some jurisdictions once you race for the tag to qualify for the starter category, you can just stay there (wasn't there a horse in West Virginia who won over and over?). Oh well, at least I cashed a show bet on him.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Have you used Baffert in the past?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

I’m not affiliated at all with MRH. If I were they would fire me quickly hahaha.

MRH has had a couple horses with Baffert before. But they’ve had to transfer early because of the scandal with Medina Spirit (and the flaky owners cheered) while another one washed out of Baffert’s barn before first start.

Baffert has another MRH 2 year old right now in Authentic Spirit.

They have. They had a horse named Big Mel with him. Big Mel ended up gelded and at New Vocations though. Obviously, Authentic was also with Baffert. Infinite Empire was also supposed to be with Baffert but I believe she was moved after Medina Spirit was DQed or she wasnt fast enough, I cant remember, because she was a pretty terrible racehorse. She ended up in Mandella's barn.
