Bringing a good-looking, stakes-winning horse from the Scat Daddy line to California isn't the craziest thing I've seen.

The only thing shocking about this is that someone bought him. He is doing terrible at stud.

This year at some point, the JC is implementing their new system on the registry. Its starting out with only the past couple years but I believe the goal is to expand it further in the past(maybe 10 years). Anytime a managing account of a horse logs into the registry, they will get a notification for each horse that hasn't had activity(racing/breeding) in a given time. They'll then be asked to please update the record. So while it wont be mandatory, if will hopefully annoy them enough to update the horse's records. And I'm totally fine with annoy over mandate. Should also see the increased use of Retired From Racing which is just good for a horse so it doesn't randomly show back up at the track after being retired for years.Akitaperson wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 5:32 pmHonestly I know it'd be hard to track with the number of foals born and named each year but death reports should be mandatory for named horses

took them long enough. i'm curious to see how many mares he bred this year to get them to finally give him the boot (though i guess they'd sell him either way given he still only has Saudi Crown and his sales are horrible).Squeaky wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 12:56 pm Always Dreaming to Oklahoma https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/k ... -oklahoma/

i kinda doubt he isn't in any pain tbh. there was a video of him walking a few days ago and those legs HAVE to hurt.
i don't understand how they let his feet get like that. they look horrible, cracked and flat. my mare is slightly OATK and a good farrier job helps a lot.

I am glad that he gets to stay in the US. He will always have a place in my heart since he is the only KY Derby winner I have met in person and he was the sweetest horse.Squeaky wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 12:56 pm Always Dreaming to Oklahoma https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/k ... -oklahoma/

It isn't a coincidence that some of the best and most specialized farriers are based out of Kentucky. Like, I know reiners who ship from Indiana to Kentucky just to get their horses shod. But I don't understand how so many of these priceless stallions have garbage feet.brunanas wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 1:10 pmi kinda doubt he isn't in any pain tbh. there was a video of him walking a few days ago and those legs HAVE to hurt.

Like, they've been barefoot for years and years, they get turned out regularly in well maintained paddocks, they aren't exactly Central Park carriage horses. It should be pretty easy just keeping them trimmed and maintained. Why do they all have crushed heels and long ass toes.
