Agreed! Happy to see him back in the winner's circle. I had such high hopes for him last year!

Tapit Trice to the Jockey Club Gold Cup, along with stablemate Kingsbarn. Shaping up to be a very good race, and I still have hope that Arthur's Ride may make an appearance.

Without the PA Derby we would be seeing plenty of 3 yo there too. That race has really hurt the fall NYRA championship series.

The JCGC is ran a week after the Travers now. They had to move it or it would have lost its G1 status, like the Woodward did. Its that horses are retired to stud at the end of their 3yo year, race less and some trainers like to train them up to the BC instead of having another race, that hurts the fall races. I'm not fan of 3yo races after a certain point in the year either. But the PA Derby always got nice horses even before it was a G1 and to me it just took the place of the Super Derby. When the Super Derby was a G1 it was ran the 3rd weekend in September, 3yo, 1m purse(same as the PA Derby now). Sunday Silence, Unbridled, and Concern used the Super Derby as their last prep for the Classic. Tiznow won the Super Derby but raced in the Goodwood before the Classic. Alysheba and Seeking The Gold both finished 2nd in the Classic as 3yos coming out of it and Gate Dancer and Precisionist finished 3rd.

Trainers are always going to be an easier option than facing older horses.

Very happy to see a big strong Whitney field! Especially thrilled that Arthur's Ride will be stepping up into G1 company. Should be a fun race.

Next takes the Birdstone by 22 lengths.

I'm not familiar with international racing but would Next be a good candidate to ship out for distance races? Seems like there would be higher value races out there somewhere for him to compete.

Next is so good right now. I'm curious what he could do at 1-1/4 miles but it doesn't sound like the connections have any intention of shortening him up.

Next started his racing career as a turf miler, but he started losing then they kept shortening him up until he wasn't winning anymore.

Let's give a special shoutout to Komorebino Omoide, a 4 y/o colt by California Chrome o/o Decennial (Trippi) who was bred in Japan by...Perry Martin and brought to the United States.

He is a 3x winner and hit the board in his last two starts, which were both stakes. He was 3rd in the G3 West Virginia Governor's Cup last weekend.
