Love those color tails. Gulastra plume, I think.

Orfevre filly was knocked down to DMM who also had her 1/2 brother King Squall(JPN)(Duramente), an impressive debut winner on Sunday. :D

Hip 90 (Nyquist x Mining For Mercury), in the Saratoga Sale, cute color with spots all over. Not sure if I like her build as much, but it might just be the way she stands..

One of the theories regarding the existence "off color" thoroughbreds is that many of the early TBs and foundation stock who were registered as "chestnut" could also qualify as palomino and dun. Maybe some of them were objectively palomino.

Definitely. Enough to look at old paintings. Cream dilution has definitely been present in the breed since the very beginning. The Jockey Club is stuck in stone age, still registering grays as gray/roan. No wonder they misregistered cream dilutions as chestnuts, bays..

Its him all grown up!

Mr D J(JPN), 2020 bay colt (Talismanic - Crimson Rouge, by End Sweep)

Very flashy markings and with just a touch of gulastra plume. Lots of photos at link.

He has a white spot on his belly too that can be seen here(I think they have even more photos of him)

Very striking indeed. The tail isn’t a gulastra plume— those involve the bottom half. His hair pattern looks like what you’d find in rabicano.

Looks like The Tetrarch (I think all grey TBs today descend from him, but I might be forgetting a grey line).

The last time I was in England, six or seven years ago, I saw an eighteenth century painting of a racehorse that was very clearly palomino. This was at the Wimpole Estate, just outside Cambridge, which is fairly close to Newmarket.

I've tried and so far unfortunately failed to find out any more information on the painting or the horse in it (it's not even in the National Trust's online archive of art from that estate), but it was interesting to see.
