Well, Auguste Rodin wins the Prince of Wales's and gets his season back on track. Not without making you hold your breath, as it looked for a minute like he would be headed by the French contingent. He really needs everything to go his way. I would guess the King George is next?
I'm sure Leopoldo Fernandez Pujals is maybe second guessing handing off his entire stable to Maurizio Guarnieri.

I love listening to Aiden talk about his horses. He is so knowledgeable about all the details of each one. And he really listens to his team when making a plan for each horse. Of course it is ultimately up to “ the lads”. Has AO ever trained for anyone else but Coolmore?

Before he took over at Ballydoyle for Coolmore, he was a hugely successful jumps trainer.Squeaky wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 11:13 am I love listening to Aiden talk about his horses. Interesting. Who was Ballydoyle’s trainer before Aiden?HB1994 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 11:26 amBefore he took over at Ballydoyle for Coolmore, he was a hugely successful jumps trainer.Squeaky wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 11:13 am I love listening to Aiden talk about his horses. The immortal Vincent O'Brien, who trained Nijinsky, Sir Ivor, Roberto, The Minstrel, Alleged, etc. He helped Robert Sangster and John Magnier (his son-in-law) establish the Coolmore syndicate.Squeaky wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 11:36 amInteresting. I’m reading this right now—I recommend it:
Horse Trader: Robert Sangster and the Rise and Fall of the Sport of Kings
https://www.amazon.com/Horse-Trader-Rob ... C96&sr=8-1
It’s also very frustrating to read because these owners helped hugely to create the racing-to-breed bus9ness model that we’re under today.

“Annemarie's dad was training first as a permit-holder, and then with a licence, and he was a massive influence as well. Then Annemarie took over the training but when Joseph was born, Annemarie said that we would change the licence into my name and it just worked on the same as always.
“We trained there for four or five years, and then we got approached by Paul Shanahan for John Magnier, who asked would we be interested in leasing Ballydoyle for a couple of seasons. At the time we had an overflow of horses so it suited us to go to Ballydoyle.
“So we ran Ballydoyle for a year or two and then John said to us would we be interested in just training his own horses. That's how it happened. Then Michael Tabor came in with John, and John gave JP McManus a present of a horse called Thats My Man, to be trained by us. So that's how we met JP, and he obviously would've been a big influence, as well as Christy, about us coming to Ballydoyle full time, rather than just being a tenant.”

Aidan was assistant trainer to Jim Bolger when he met his future wife Anne-Marie at a bumper race. They started dating, got married and Aidan broke his shoulder in a riding accident. While he was recovering he started working with his wife and never went back to Bolger. He then became Assistant trainer for his wife. Joseph was born in 1993, so that is when Aidan got his first trainer's license, when Anne-Marie stepped down. She is the only woman to be Champion National Hunter Trainer in Ireland. Vincent retired in 1994. Not really sure who Coolmore's next trainer was or if they just used a bunch in the meantime. Aidan was then Champion National Hunt trainer for the 93/94 season and won the title the next 5 years. He became Coolmore's private trainer in 1996. But as he says, John introduced him to JP McManus and Aidan trained Istabraq for McManus starting in late 96. He trained National Hunt horses until 2017 but didn't have nearly as many as he did back when he was running both Ballydoyle and his NH string at Piltown Yard.
It doesn't appear that Vincent was involved in the choosing of Aidan at all since he was retired a few years before Aidan took over.
