The only difference I could see (and it's a pretty big one) is the cap color. Rosario wore a cap with the turquoise and red colors of the silks, while the cap for Ramjet is solid yellow!tachyon wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 7:32 am Bring on Forever Young!!!!
Ramjet(JPN)(Majestic Warrior) won the Jpn1 Tokyo Derby, 2nd leg of the Japan's Dirt Triple Crown, by 6 lengths.
I can't wait for the Japan Dirt Classic in October!!

The owner of the Asmussen filly (her name is Mugen, by the way) is Koji Maeda, which does sound Japanese to me though I can't be sure, but I see no other reason why the two horses should be connected.
I tried to post a link to the replay off of NYRABETS, but it didn't work. So if anyone cares to see this, just queue up a replay of Race #4 at CD today and note the silks of the winner. It piqued my curiosity and I'd love to hear any thoughts!!

i think they use multiple cap colors. they have to in races where owners have multiple entered anyways, so i'd guess the one the Asmussen filly used is just another option.Missbeholder wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 2:58 pmThis is just very weird! Koji Maeda is the Japanese owner who raced G2 Peter Pan Stakes winner & G1 Belmont Stakes placed Sunday Break(JPN)(Forty Niner) in 2002.
Gary Stevens aboard
Koji Maeda loves racing in the US and that's why I think Ramjet may ship to stateside at some point.

Ramjet is slated to run in the Jpn1 Japan Dirt Classic 2000m dirt at Oi, final leg of the Japan Dirt Triple Crown, on Oct 2nd 2024.
Kentucky Derby 3rd Forever Young(JPN) is expected to run in that race, too, before shipping to Del Mar.
Oi Racecourse will provide live-feed links on the internet.

You are welcome!
I think that it's usual for a top-notch Japanese 3yo to take Summer vacation before the Autumn campaign.
He has had 7 career starts so far, which seems average to me nowadays, too.

It seems that Japanese horses run less frequently than they did a decade or two ago...
Koji Maeda may give him a few more outings by the year-end including the Japan Dirt Classic, anyway.

Kentucky Derby 5th, 3yo colt T O PASSWORD had surgery today on fractures to both his front legs, he goes to the farm to recover, expected to take 6 months to fully heal.
Wishing him a speedy recovery.

he had bone chips removed, it wasn't an actual fracture.

I hope it wasn't like what happened to Eight Belles, when she apparently suffered a fracture to a front ankle while pulling up after her valiant 2nd in the 2008 Derby. When she tried to catch her balance, she came down so hard on her other front leg that she broke the 2nd ankle.
She couldn't be saved, but hopefully T.O. P's injuries are not as severe. And veterinary science has improved greatly in the treatment of leg fractures in horses.
ETA: Just saw the update...bone chips, not 'fractures.' Phew.

yep i just saw that kate hunter posted too, while bone chips in both legs aren't fun either it's MUCH better than what it sounded like!!Kate Hunter • ケイト ハンター

Japanese media doesn’t linguistically differentiate between bone chips and fractures. They are both called the same thing. So if you’re just translating the news headlines and are not familiar with the actual process it ends up sounding super dramatic.
ETA: kate said she verified with the trainer, too, so that's solid confirmation.

Those reports on TOP's injury came out of multiple Japanese web news on the internet.
At first I was very shocked, too, as all reported that he had bone broken (or fractures) on his both legs.
This is a problem of our language.
But I was soon relieved to some extent as one of the web news elaborated that he had already had a surgery to remove bone chips and was sent to the farm below.
It was nikkan sports.

骨片 = bone chip
And Kate kindly confirmed it.
I hope TOP will get well soon!

In the meantime, trainer Yoshito Yahagi has confirmed today that Forever Young would be pointed to the Jpn1 Japan Dirt Classic next prior to his tilt at the BC Classic at Del Mar.
Yahagi said; ''I know that Ramjet is strong. Forever Young will have to be more than 90% to beat him.''
90%? really??? haha!

That makes so much more sense regarding T O Password! Thank you so much for the clarification.
Was trying to figure out what kind of injury it could potentially be that would affect both fronts and still be considered survivable. I'm sure there are some, but I couldn't come up with any. Given that they said he was done for the year but made no mention of retirement bone chips did cross my mind but the wording (or, more accurately, indirect translation) made me think otherwise.
