Glad my special boy finally got a winner. On the bright side several of his first starters have at least finished in the top three.
WoW himself didn't make his debut until August, finishing second, then finishing second in a G1 as a maiden. Kept competing in GSRs until finally breaking his maiden in November.
As long as his babies aren't the type that don't "get going" until the fall of their sophomore year or something he should be fine for a while. Fingers crossed.

Honor A.P. has another winner today - at 4 1/2F !- at Parx. This was pretty impressive since she lacked room in the stretch and dove to the inside. Her name is Hollywood Beauty - love it.
I’m so encouraged by his babies - I’m not surprised except that he’s already had 3 winners with not a lot of starters

Thousand Words gets his first stakes winner with Vodka With A Twist who takes the Debutante. Fortuna Mia (Vekoma) was 3rd, Glee (Honor AP) and Adeera (Authentic) dead heated for 4th it seems.

I think this is going to be an exceptional crop of siresCoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 2:22 pm Thousand Words get a stakes winner with Vodka With A Twist who takes the Debutante. Fortuna Mia (Vekoma) was 3rd, Glee (Honor AP) and Adeera (Authentic) dead heated for 4th it seems.
I was rooting for Glee, and was worried that she wouldn’t be sharp going in because for some reason Steve didn’t work her for 2 weeks. So her breaking badly didn’t shock me…ran pretty well despite it
**Glee got 4th

This group is doing really well - and some of them, like HAP and Authentic, aren’t supposed to sire precocious babies. I’m thrilled and just a little surprised at HAP so far
Who’s in next years first crop?

Yes, those two have been a surprise so far.
Will be rooting for a non-Spendthrift or Winstar or Ashford horse to lead first years. My current best candidate is Complexity, followed by War of Will or Volatile.

3 winners for HAP at 4 1/2 and 5F, with encouraging performances, is so encouraging. I’m rooting especially hard for him because of the lack of support he’s gotten…and because I’d love to see him help carry the Indy line on. I’ve believed in him all along, so that he keeps it upIzvestia wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 6:39 pmYes, those two have been a surprise so far.

Complexity will likely keep getting winners, but it will be interesting to see what happens when the babies start to stretch out, and when the later developing babies start to emerge.

Authentic got his 2nd winner today as Truly Legit wins a 8f MSW at Horseshoe Indianapolis. The favorite, Mission Improbable (Improbable) was 4th.

16, three of those have raced twice. he has had two 2nds and 1 third. Also just to note, there were only 3 horses in the race where the one finished 3rd(it was an off the turf race and 5 others scratched).

Ooh, ouch…..he doesn’t even have the excuse that he was a late developer because, while he was a very good older horse, he was also a very good 2 year old. And…he’s had 16 runners, which is a lot.
That said, maybe he’s had so many runners because owners are trying to get a good son right away, thinking that they could eventually land a stud deal as one of the last of his side’s offspring?

I hadn't considered that perspective, but it makes sense.Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 4:44 amOoh, ouch…..he doesn’t even have the excuse that he was a late developer because, while he was a very good older horse, he was also a very good 2 year old. And…he’s had 16 runners, which is a lot.

Then again, there's really no telling with first crop sires and it's still pretty early on. I'm hoping he gets some good ones! I really liked his colt out of Kitty Union at the Keeneland September sale.
