That would be awesome if he were to run in one or both of those. I don't recall any Hard Spun runner going since A THREAD OF BLUE won the inaugural running of the Saratoga Derby. It wasn't graded that first year, but it has been since. GREEN LIGHT looks to have some serious talent.MTO wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 8:02 amThat was a huge win with a good speed figure.Happy Endings wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 9:32 pm GREEN LIGHT won race #2 at Churchill today. GRAPHENE CASSOCK won race #5 at Prairie Meadows, Saturday May 25. His record is now 17-3-2-2. Was on his wrong lead almost the entire stretch run. I see this so often where the jocks act oblivious to it. You would think they would be more proactive about getting the horse to change leads instead of leaving it up to chance to help them run their best. The horse did win, but sometimes it is so blatant that it shocks me that a jock does nothing to help the horse. I often see a horse exhibit a spurt of speed relative to the other horses once they change leads.

REALLY GOOD ran really well today in the 2-mile Belmont Gold Cup S. (Grade II) and finished 4th, coming from way back in the field. He far outran his odds of something like 19-1. He was very distracted coming down the stretch...kept looking over at the grandstand. But he finished ahead of some very good horses.

MARINA GAMBA looks to have some decent talent, but this filly is all over the place and quite a handful. She was a mess coming out of the gate, as if she couldn't decide which direction to go in, and wound up rather sideways at one point, then was more interested in looking at the other horses than running at first. Then she settled down at the back of the field and circled the whole bunch going rather wide, then tucked in closer to the rail and could not seem to focus, but ended up a clear second. If she hadn't had such an eventful break, she might have won the race. Big improvement over her first race. What a handful, but it looked more like greenness and confusion than intentional bad behavior. Watch the race and see what you think.

I don't think I've ever seen a worse start than HARD PAR had at Belmont at the Big A in race #3 today. He took at least his first three strides on his knees. Yet, he persisted and after giving the entire field a significant head start, he made it up to finish third in a very brave effort. So, he is still looking for his first win, but improved his record to 6-0-1-1.
