So does Seize the Grey as his grandsire, too, though.TapitsGal wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 10:49 pm Caldera hasn't even made it too lukas barn yet. And has already needed time off due to a bone chip. Hopefully he can hold up to lukas training methods longterm. But he does have unbridleds song in his pedigree so soundness could be a concern longterm with lukas training methods

True but Grey hasn't had the soundness issues/injury issues early on in his career like caldera hasForTheThrill wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 7:50 amSo does Seize the Grey as his grandsire, too, though.TapitsGal wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 10:49 pm Caldera hasn't even made it too lukas barn yet. Grey had a nice 6 fur work at CD. Seems to be in career form right now.

Im definitely bummed about Phantom Ride as of my 26 horses in MRH, he and STG were the only two that aren't injured and hitting the board consistently. Most of my other runners are 2 year olds, injured, not very good, or just now returning from injury ala Rosie's Alibi. I hope he goes on to do great things for his new owner who turned a claimer (American Band) into a stakes winner <3
Phantom Ride's career with MRH including the $32k claimer they tossed him in last out:
2024 6 3 1 0 $103,587
LIFETIME 19 5 3 1 $172,037

If his new owner turns phantom ride into a stakes runner..I can only imagine the bitching that'll happen on mrh peeps behalfCoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 8:20 am Im definitely bummed about Phantom Ride as of my 26 horses in MRH, he and STG were the only two that aren't injured and hitting the board consistently. Probably the same amount when A Mo Reay became a G1 winner after MRH sold her cus past her prime.TapitsGal wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 8:34 amIf his new owner turns phantom ride into a stakes runner..I can only imagine the bitching that'll happen on mrh peeps behalfCoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 8:20 am Im definitely bummed about Phantom Ride as of my 26 horses in MRH, he and STG were the only two that aren't injured and hitting the board consistently. One person was complaining because phantom ride didn't have a braided mane. It's like of all the things to be concerned about..that's not even at the top of the list. There's a million reasons he may not have had a braided maneCoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 9:07 amProbably the same amount when A Mo Reay became a G1 winner after MRH sold her cus past her prime.TapitsGal wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 8:34 amIf his new owner turns phantom ride into a stakes runner..I can only imagine the bitching that'll happen on mrh peeps behalfCoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 8:20 am Im definitely bummed about Phantom Ride as of my 26 horses in MRH, he and STG were the only two that aren't injured and hitting the board consistently. I agree. People need to stop questioning trainers decisions of why they do things. They know the horses bestTapitsGal wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 9:33 amOne person was complaining because phantom ride didn't have a braided mane. Results
Lane Way finished 5th in Daytona Stakes(G3)
Legitify finished 4th and was claimed
Phantom Ride finished 2nd and was claimed
Pioneer Prince finished 8th
Visceral finished 4th on debut
Entries
ADaay in Asia entered in AOC at Santa Anita on 6/2
Guinevere entered in MSW at Churchill Downs on 6/9
Kanthari entered in claiming at Laurel on 6/7
Simply Enchanting entered in allowance at Churchill Downs on 6/1
I really liked what a consistent, hard-trying horse Phantom Ride is. Sad to see him claimed, but truthfully I'm surprised he wasn't claimed until now. That being said, if the new trainer can make him a stakes winner they deserve it. MRH has tried to move him into higher company at least twice and both times he finished abysmally.
EDIT: Guinevere's race moved to 6/9

I would love for Seize the Grey to get a Belmont win because I love the horse and own a piece of him. I also dread him potentially winning because I imagine endless complaints about how we *could* have had a triple crown winner if the derby had been in the cards

I thought STG ran a great race in the Jeff Ruby he was wide throughout and still exhibited multiple moves to fight back for third. Bringing him right back in the BG probably was unnecessary before Derby day but that is D. Wayne. I was apprehensive when I saw on MRH that Lukas was going to train him bc of horses like Twilight Agenda being run too often but that can also prove to be lucrative.

A good article on the proceeds of Seize the Grey.
Worth noting for new people that majority of racehorses are a financial loss even if they are G3 or G2 winners.
Other graded stakes horses MRH has/have had are Tizamagician, Street Band, Moonlight d’oro, Provocateur, Lane Way, A Mo Reay, Straight no chaser, Going to Vegas, Monomoy Girl, Sixtythreecaliber, and Forbidden Kingdom.
None of these have turned a profit that I’m aware of except Street Band and Going to Vegas. Not even Authentic (at the moment)
Edit: @interco has reminded me of Duke of Love. He also hasn’t broken even. Let me know if I’ve forgotten anyone else.

Yep, Authentic has earned me a whole $49.38 so far and I paid $209.94. My only positive ROI at MRH is STG.

Good because he obviously has some kind of soundness issue and still does. He has missed big parts of almost every year he raced except his 3yo year. Add to that he has had 4 intra-articular injections this year, one each month from February to May. When a horse gets those constantly it is really worrisome and a red flag to me.
