Love seeing Epiphaneia get another top-level winner. He was bred to be a top level stallion and so far he hasn't disappointed.

Yeah, Epiphaneia(JPN) has already sired six individual G1 winners including the 2021 Horse of the Year Efforia(JPN) and the 2020 Triple Tiara winner Daring Tact(JPN).
And I'm looking forward to seeing Epiphaneia's 2yos who are out of the better group of broodmares he got after his success in 2020 and 2021.
Also, it's really nice to see the great Cesario(JPN) increase her own influence in the Japanese breeding.
Her younger sons Leontes(JPN)(King Kamehameha) became a G1 sire recently and Saturnalia(JPN)(Lord Kanaloa) is going to be the most-watched first-season sire this year.

Of other pedigree notes, Danon Decile(JPN) became the first Japanese Derby winner for the Roberto sire-line.
Cograts(USA) may become the Broodmare-Sire of the Year for Japan, as he is represented by Danon Decile(JPN) and Forever Young(JPN)(Real Steel).

As for Congrats, he had modest success as a stallion in the US. His top earners were dirt sprinter Bango, grade I winner Turbulent Descent, grade II winners Pat on the Back and Harvey Wallbanger, etc. I don't have the stats for him as a broodmare sire though maybe Flanders or another poster can supply them.

I think shin emperor could have won this, or at least run 2nd, to my eye jockey seemed to be holding him. Always a subjective view though.

I still thoroughly enjoyed seeing a 56 yo jockey, who had already won this 2x, win on a horse who had not raced since January and had not won more than a G3, and who had one of the lowest RPRs in the field. Because it was a masterful ride. And was happy for bettors who got 76 to 1.

Reminder that horses cannot be reduced to just numbers. The crowd was ecstatic, much happiness for jockey, spectators, bettors who had him, i thought it was quite moving hearing the cheering from the crowd for the jockey....almost symphonic.

They left the rail open. Seeing that mistake a lot lately it seems.

Danon Decile has just been the first Japanese Derby winner from the Roberto line since the race obtained International G1 status in 2010.

Which horse is the better swimmer?
It is raining...a lot. When one of those sandy Japanese tracks is actually muddy, it's really soaked.
I haven't heard a rating for the turf, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were Heavy 8-10.

Fortunately it has stopped raining now and turf condition will not be catastrophic.
Hong Kong horses may welcome this type of going.
Soul Rush is thought to handle the wet.
