Those tracks are fairs, for the most part, that are a step above bush tracks. Interesting stuff.Flanders wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2024 7:53 pm I was checking the stakes results on Equibase and saw that G2 Weston (Hit It A Bomb) had his first start of the year, winning his 11th race in a row. He has been running at small tracks since summer 2022, twice in Mixed breed races. IDK if they are all fair meets, I don't think I've heard of some of these tracks before.

Thanks Curtis! I figured it made most sense that they would be since they only seemed to run a meet for a week or so.Curtis wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 3:00 pmThose tracks are fairs, for the most part, that are a step above bush tracks. Mr. Fisk (Arrogate x Plein Air) won the G2 Hollywood Gold Cup at Santa Anita over Reincarnate (Good Magic x Allanah) and Judge Miller (Curlin X Cavorting). That's a lot of good pedigrees there.
Mr. Fisk has been dismounted by his jockey, while his front leg/hoof is examined by a track vet. Seems a precaution, and he may get a ride back to his stable.

Fandrool caught up with Kazushi Kimura, and he said that Mr. Fisk just felt a little off on his left front. So he dismounted to have the horse checked. Fingers crossed that he is just a little achy after that strong effort.

He was very lame in front pulling up. Surprised jockey did not dismount sooner. No mention by talking heads until the vet was examining him. Later they said left front but looked like right front to me. Taking him back in horse ambulance for further examination. Really a shame after such a nice win.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 8:48 pm Mr. Fisk (Arrogate x Plein Air) won the G2 Hollywood Gold Cup at Santa Anita over Reincarnate (Good Magic x Allanah) and Judge Miller (Curlin X Cavorting). I thought maybe he had stepped on a nail from Eagles Flight's shoe that had basically halfway got ripped off of him or something. Hope he is okay!

That would have been FanDrool's own Toad Schrupp, who doesn't care about much except the loud sound of his own voice.

I'm sorry that his absence will further deplete the handicap division, such as it is. Another Arrogate to regret his sire's early death. Be interested to see a similar analysis of other trainers. It's like when Medina Spirit died we had a detailed analysis of his necropsy, but not Midnight Bourbon or New York Thunder and God forbid Maple Leaf Mel.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

I set the terms for this year, Thoroughbred, include previous activity(it will only show this year), and sorted by trainer.Diver52 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 12:15 am I'm sorry that his absence will further deplete the handicap division, such as it is. Trainers that don't use them, appear pretty rare on the list. There are horses trained by other trainers with 3-4 this year already. The one that surprised me was how much Mandella really likes them. Lane Way has already had 4 this year.

Thanks, Flanders, as always. Those of us with old-time horse names need to stick together. "We that are young, will never see so much, nor live so long." But substitute "old!" That's Lear, I believe, a comment by somebody on the carnage preceding. It's late, and the bottle is empty.
