I'm beyond shocked right now. I bought into this horse as a yearling because I loved arrogate. Now I own a Preakness winner

Same reason. All because of Arrogate. As much as I question decisions made by MRH writ large….such as this because I thought the short time between races would be detrimental and this was a marketing ploy…turns out I shouldn’t think and just enjoy the ride. This is something…

He did it. Somehow, he did it.
I also thought this was a marketing ploy. Seize the Grey is an April 22 baby. And the two-week turnaround.
@Tapitsgirl, we are the jinx, I guess. I’ve never been so happy to be wrong.

They got an Omaha Beach that's 100% MRH owned.

Looks like STG is aiming for the CA Crown and the 5 M bonus offered by 1ST Racing

I really don't think anyone is shocked by this considering mrh has a partnership with 1st racing. But at least Grey pointing to the Pegasus longterm ensures he will return to run at four for awhile anywaySqueaky wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 11:27 am Looks like STG is aiming for the CA Crown and the 5 M bonus offered by 1ST Racing

Correction from last post-Seize the Grey was foaled in the early hours of April 20, 2021. Mill Ridge has some cute foal, weanling and yearling photos of him on their Facebook page.
As a small fun fact-we Seize the Grey shareholders technically didn't receive confirmation he's headed for the Belmont until today (5/23), well after all of the news articles.
I am bearish on Seize the Grey doing well in the Belmont, despite his recent performances. First, it will be his 6th race in about 4.5 months. Second, he had every advantage in both Peter Pan and the Preakness-I doubt the racing gods are going to be this generous perpetually. Third, he's sired from the Unbridled's Song line and out of a dam who retired early due to injury. Neither of these are recommendations for durability. Therefore, despite the optimism pervading the Seize the Grey owners, I am not thrilled about the Belmont and would rather he skipped it. I'm not budging despite the success he's had. You can't count on luck to save you every time- look no further than Just Steel.

I hope he holds together too -I fear at some point his break benefits are going to wear off and the overuse effects will start to kick in. I hope not and will keep rooting for him. Maybe he can get a break after the Belmont until the Travers.
