Early this morning I wasn't too sure if anybody cared about the Black Eyed Susan.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

The flower or the race? Has your curiosity been satisfied?

There's no thread dedicated to the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes, and I'm certainly not going to start one now. I just really want to know how Pimlico came up with a name like 100 years ago for its companion to the Kentucky Oaks for a flower that was out of season when the race was run, and for all these years, has had to fabricate a winner's garland where the flowers are literally painted to look like black-eyed Susan's when the damn f!lowers don't bloom until 2 or 3 months later! Well, that was a run-on sentence if I ever saw one!😆

Anyway, I just don't get it......never have and never will!

Google says: Originally ran as the Pimlico Oaks, it was renamed in 1952 to acknowledge Maryland's state flower.

I would guess that is why the garland of flowers for the Preakness is also fake Black Eyed Susans. I had to look at what Kentucky's state flower was and can you imagine them making a blanket of golden rods for the winner?

Double will pays.....Tuscan Gold will be the favorite?

For $2 tickets that had favored Gun Song winning Friday's first leg,
Tuscan Gold will pay $30.00 if he were to win the Preakness.
Catching Freedom is next at $30.60
followed by Imagination at $34.20,
Mystik Dan at $35.20,
Just Steel at $98.00,
Seize the Grey at $114.40,
Uncle Heavy at $204.60
and Mugatu at $708.40.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

The Pimlico dirt is currently listed as good, but it looks more muddly than good to me.

Adds Lasix
Off the layoff since September
and the public bets him down to 6/5

I honestly didnt even realize Mirahmadi hadn't broken his maiden yet  I just remember his second place in the Del Mar Futurity (G1). He is such a handsome horse, its a shame he isn't faster than he is.

Wow, what a busy weekend sports-wise: a Triple Crown race, Indy Car qualifying, the PGA Championship (no arrests this morning), and the NHL and NBA playoffs.

I'll add the Heavyweight boxing unification fight. Winner will be the first unified champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

Hey I was at Chavez Ravine when Ohtani broke the record for MLB HR’s by a Japanese born player. All those in attendance when Hank Aaron hit #715 or Barry Bonds hit #756* got nuthin’ on me.
