Honor Marie very frazzled in the walkover.

Stronghold chill and 36-1?! I know the California prep races were a bit of a mess but he still won the Santa Anita Derby.

He recognised my cancer ribbon I wear always. He told me he knows cancer very well too. :( We had a little chat that ended up with me crying because of how down-to-earth and kind this man is. If there is a greater power, let this man have a Derby win. I cannot think of anyone more deserving.
What a beautiful post and experience. I feel the same- even a top 5 finish would be great.
He told me; "If my horse has given you a bit of joy during the last few months, then I'm already proud of what I've done". I bawled like a baby.
Lets go!!!

What an amazing encounter, I'm so happy you got to experience it and thank you for sharing it. :) West Saratoga was my longshot to begin with (it would be fitting if a grandson of Curlin's won for a 3rd year in a row) but now it's personal in the best of ways!

West Saratoga is at 22/1 right now with a little over 10 minutes to post! He's 50/1 on the morning line!

West Saratoga is about to go off at 22/1 off of a 50/1 morning line! Is there some kind of serendipity going on here?

If Sierra Leone could get out of his own way and stop drifting left in his races he would be a derby winner

So sad, if Forever Young didn't get bumped at the start I'm sure he would have won :o I'm bummed :(

Also herded in the straight by Sierra Leone...

Ken McPeek first trainer since 1952 to win Oaks-Derby!
Congratulations! For all trainers out there, McPeek deserves this huge win.

I need a replay so I can actually watch the race  Seemed like the pace wasn't very fast but didn't really hold up? Mystik Dan got a great ride? Looking forward to digging into the trips.

Bummed for Fierceness, but glad everyone came home safe.
